really? i just played victoria 2 for the first time a month ago, I kept the trading automated, could that be the reason? I felt like EUIV had more to worry about and more options and the trade nodes and what not.

swap them then

1. Hoi
2. CK
3. EU
4. Vic

Victoria 2 was my first paradox game and for me was the easiest to learn. Had a hard time getting crusader kings down pat though but yeah Hearts of iron is definetly the hardest paradox game to learn.

I havnt played EU4 by now but EU2 and 3 and I found those much harder than the HoI games. It was much harder for me there to win the game.

1. Hoi, its hard, even though learning curve ain't.
1 also, or 2? Victoria, because the rebels and political system!
3. Ck, its a little confusing even after learning the basics, though its kinda easy, but some things happening could completely foil a plan and put it off for a while (and even if not foiled, a plan could take forever) And its hard to keep money (not hard to gain though).
4. Eu , I really don't know... but money is hard to get.

CK is really easy once you learn everything which is why I lost interest in a character focused rpg wargame.

From the difficulty point of view CK2 is interesting. I really wouldn't call it an easy game, but you can just jump in, stumble on and still enjoy it a lot - if you can accept not going for world domination straight away. That's what I call a perfect learning curve.

HoI series is super frustrating untill you get at least the basics figured out. On the other hand, you can start as USA with no earlier HoI experience and still do just fine. USA start is - if not a plain cheat mode - at least equivalent to what Ireland county starts in CK2 are (this changed a little bit with Charlemagne DLC early starts as tribals and catholicism don't really mix that well). :)

I'd say: HoI 3, Vicky 2, March of the Eagles, CK2 perhaps... I've no idea about EU4.

CK and the EU series have always struck me as basically very simple games hiding their simplicity in a mass of detail, e.g. the complex rules of succession.

But when you get right down to it there really aren't that many options in gameplay - typically, create a Cassus Belli and invade at an opportune moment...over and over again.

Still, the complexities in arranging marriages and alliances can be difficult.

even if my experience bounded within HoI3 TFH 4.02, i think that EU IV can be harder than any others, so, playing through centuries... its very very hard :)

HOI3 is the hardest, then Ck2, vic2, then EUIV :army::goldbars:
