About Stars
Hello, new to the game.

As you can see here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1421467297

It tells me there's one star inside "map" 2. Now, I did all the challenges twice and walked around the isle for a bit: I only found a locked gate but no stars...

Can they be scattered around the map or only inside challenge levels? Because the signs before entering the challenges don't show any stars there.

Most of time they are inside a puzzle but they can be outside too. And quite often it's necessary to make connections between different puzzles. You might even have to sneak object outside a puzzle.

Oh, that's a lot of stuff to assimilate :) Can I also open those locked gates?
I think I'll move on for the moment and get back to that part later on.

Doors can be opened with a key.

A few stars are pretty straightforward, but I decided to not gather them anymore during this regular playthrough. Way too hard. I assume it's something you do after completing everything else.

Well, thanks guys, I'll see what I can do :)

lol, is that Prince of Persia?

Haha, yes.

Nice!
Yeah, stars can be located ANYWHERE on the map. Sometimes it's obvious, sometimes it's hidden in the corner of a puzzle, sometimes it's ridiculous well hidden. A couple I'd even say are downright unfair.

I think I got 10-15 stars out of I think 30 my first playthrough. My second time through I'd gotten more savvy about them and was able to get almost all of them on my own. So that might be a desirable strategy for you.

Thank you too.

Stars can kill a marriage, but other than that it's okay.

As mentioned above, some are downright unfair, so I'd like to mention that with all those square QR codes that show text when you highlight them, if you come across one that doesn't show text, that's not a bug, you're actually supposed to scan it with your phone. There are only like 3 or 4 textless QR codes, but you need the information they have to even have a chance of solving the puzzle. Because it's so absurdly obscured, I don't think I'm really spoiling anything when I tell you that in level 3A, the random numbers you constantly see aren't random this time.... and you'll still probably have to look up the answer.

Good luck, and kudos to you if you get them all without looking it up!

I've gotten all the normal sigils, now going back for stars, I'm at 18 and I've only had to look up solutions for 2 of them so far. Once I see a star I'm generally determined to figure it out myself, but for the ones I can't find, I'll usually give it 20-30 minutes of searching before I at least look at the start of a guide to that star.

Too bad it's so difficult, as you all said to me (and also my friends). A bit of challenge should always be expected but games should also be entertaining and enjoyable - I'm always saying this for Point and Click games.

Spoiler alert! There is one star where you had to use a reflector pointing to the pyramid and then reflect it to a hidden receiver on the sphinx. Finding out that there were generator on the top of the pyramid wasn't hard as there were a QR-code in vague words saying that you had to point the reflector there.

However there was a hidden receiver on the Sphinx itself which one would never see. That's really unfair especially not giving any type of hint.

well it says something about heart, where you had to point it at but yeah, difficult puzzle.

I'd recommend not to worry too much about the stars at the beginning, find the ones you can but don't crack your skull open for them, solve the puzzles and advance through the story.

By the way, you can get a few extra stars, among other things, by playing Sigils of Elohim: so you might wanna check that out.
