Error Report - anyone understanding the cause of the error?
Hi there

I have quite a problem with one of my save games after the Roads & Vehicles Update:

The game does not load. Loading process remains stuck half ways. Initially the game crashed and I receive the following error report:

Unfortunately, I do not really understand from the report what the root cause of the problem is. I did some partition shift and now have more than enough RAM available, but did not help.

Any ideas?

I was able to take a look at this log. What I'm seeing is several errors occuring while loading mods. If you look at the file there will be instances like this that you can see:

For this if we lookup what this mod is (using the mod number), it is this:
Glass- Cube- Metro- Station 2.0

So for this example, you could try to remove it to see if it helps the load.

There is a similar error that appears after "More CitizenUnits" loads. I was originally going to suggest removing this mod as well, but after reading the description for the mod, it states that you have to keep running the mod, or the city will break. If removing the other mod doesn't help with loading the mod, you might need to contact the author of CitizenUnits mod and see if they will take a look over your output log file.

One other thing you can try is to install the "Loading Screen Mod". This has an option to run in "Safe mode" which might be enough to get you in the game, but I'd recommend you check all the mods that are causing "Simulation error"s in your error log.

Thanks a lot for looking at the file and the advice regarding the mods - much appreciated!

Let me do a proper clean-up of all the Mods and workshop assets - this might take some time, but I will certainly let you know whether I succeed.

How exactly can I identify an issue with a prop/ custom asset?

In below example, e.g., would "No probs placed" be an issue that could prevent the savegame from loading?

In the example you posted, you can disregard the "no props placed" message. I see those in my log and the city loads fine.

I've looked at your latest log. It wasn't posting on Steam(waiting analysis it states), but I was able to find a way to extract the link from the message.

The most obvious error I'm seeing in this log is:
System.NullReferenceException: Loading custom asset failed [HST Track (Two Way)_pillar_0] Object reference not set to an instance of an object [Modding]
This seems to be from the mod "High Speed Train Track (Two Way)". Try removing that to see if it helps?

Latest Update:

- I managed to load the game. However, some roads and transportation lines (esp bus lines and metro lines) appear to be gone, I guess that's due to a mod which went missing after deleted some mods based on the compatibility report or a misssing asset.

Glad to hear it is back up and running - definately a good sign. Yes, with the missing mods, you may have to reconstruct the missing parts with other assets, or you could try to add one mod/asset back at a time to see if it still loads.

Re-installed some mods and road/ transport networks assets which had gone missing

To precent similiar issues at the next game update it‘s probably good to conduct a thorough review of the mod and asset portfolio.

Do you happen to know a good method to order all assets by their file size an RAM requirement - if this is possible at all?

And also: THANKS a lot for all your advice and support! Really grateful! And I learnt a lot of useful stuff!

I found this tip on that - this will show all the mod files listed by the size they take on the HD (which should work as an approximation of how much memory they will use):
Go to "Your Steam install folder\steamapps\workshop\content\255710", search for the *.crp and arrange them by size.

You can also use the "Mesh Info" mod. This will allow you to see how large of textures and polys a given asset uses while in the game. I have this mod installed and it seems to not cause any issues even though it hasn't been updated in some time.
