Kinda disappointed at how KingLeno approached his Content Creator Pack DLC
I just watched this...

https://youtu.be/NYGCmVvO6CE

...and am kinda disappointed on the fact that KingLeno didn't make the items in the pack its own theme like how Avanya did it with her European Suburbia pack. And making us create our own theme with his content using the Building themes mod instead.

Shroomblaze's Art Deco pack was also not presented as its own theme when it was released because the content of his pack was created way before building themes mod was created, and the buildings in that pack are at least tied directly to no expansion experience at all so having no preset theme for them is acceptible.

Also building themes axtually began, if memory serves me correctly, with the 'European Football\Soccer Fever mania" theme that included the free European Maps and Building theme update, Avanya's European Suburbia pack and the European Football Club pack. And because this upcoming pack is tied directly to the upcoming Campus expansion, I was half expecting this pack would come in its own predefined Building theme straight out of the box :( KingLeno's new assets look great though and I'll still purchase this pack regardless. But I guess I'll just leave it to RNG for the assets to grow on their own as I do not want to mess with Building Themes mod.

And here I was already planning out how I'd lay out my Campus district complete with its own residential and commercial personality separate from the rest of my city and now that's thrown out the window. I technically still could with the needed mod, but I never had a need for it before and don't want to mess with it in the first place.

Guys i suggest you to download the theme mod anyway. I can't play without it because even vanilla buiildings are a mixed bag of different styles.
With it i can choose which building will grow in any district and i've made my personal themes with all workshop assets and vanilla mixed.

why the solutions to all the problems on CS need to be fixed by a mod?
Isn't there the built in building style selector option that CO added not so long ago, that allows you to assign certain buildings to a particular style?

i don't consider that a problem, i don't care what buildings grow in my zones.
I totally agree with Cahos. A "college" and "art deco" theme should be added in vanilla game.
@Catratio pardon me but let me disagree with you my friend. "How many Olive Gardens and Gamestops do you need clustered together?" By your way of thinking even "Organic and Local Produce" is unnecessary
You absolute CANNOT blame this on KingLeno. This is a decision made somewhere else, probably due to lack of time. Until my DLC was released, I did not know it was going to have its own style. It had been considered to be used as the low density for the default European style, which in the end it wasn't - probably because the European style is available to everyone while the DLC wouldn't be.

It sucks there isn't a style for sure, but don't base your decision solely on that. KingLeno almost certainly didn't make the decision not to have a style included. Let Paradox/CO know that this is important to you (if it is) so that we won't have more CCPs like this without a style. But if you like the buildings and want to support KingLeno, then don't let a misisng style ruin that.

We simply aren't in as much control over these as when we make stuff for the workshop. ;)

Thank you for the input! :-) I let Paradox/CO know, and from what I've seen many people did. 'Concerts' DLC already showed that they're listening and update stuff based on players' input, so here's hoping...

Oh, and by the way — European Suburbia is superb, many thanks for that!

I did retort on myself and did say that the blame is moreso on CO's side of things and not with KingLeno. And I'll still purchase his pack, in three more hours, as I do like the aesthetics of the assets he created. And I'll just let Good ol' RNGesus to grow the new buildings in my city because I do not want to mess with a mod I do not find important in my game, when the Devs themselves have the ability to implement this ingame themselves. Also, loving your European Suburbia pack as well. I use them as my city's faux rich folks' homes as house designs like the ones in your pack are definitely considered ritzy in my country :D

Oh, no, I don't blame Leno for sure, I just found it disappointing myself. I'm also one for just sorta being suspicious of certain trends off the bat, good to know all's fine though, it sounds like a small, easy fix to do.
I wish I could make mods like this. It really takes a lot of work - and talent. So after grumbling a bit, I'm going to buy it anyway. I'll just have to figure out how to create a theme, style or whatever it's called. I'm sure in the end, it will be worth it.
Since there's probably some here who are interested, MrMiyagi uploaded a theme for the DLC to use with Building Themes. :)

The in built in 'styles' is ok but for the best control over what appears where you really need 'Building Themes' mod anyway. It appears to have very little impact on performance but enhances the game play significantly. If these buildings were in a style you would be forced to create a unique district for them which would only spawn these buildings. By using building themes you can add them to any district, as you can apply as many (or as few) building themes to a district that you want. I have not found a way to add non workshop growables to a 'style' and 'styles' does not handle very small assets well (ie. DK trailor homes). It may be better to ask the devs to improve 'styles' then add these buildings to one.

Yea i hate the way mods slow everything down so i wanted to play vanilla...... when the Devs charge 15 but are too lazy to add a district .......... good god.

We appreciate the feedback! I raised the concern with our production team the moment I saw the comments in the video from KingLeno, so you've been heard.

1) You definitely should NOT blame KingLeno, that should be obvious - but as it doesn't seem to be for some people, that was our decision. We make decisions, sometimes they're not what you want, we live and learn

2) This OP and most of the comments here could have been much better written to be constructive. I'm not gonna play nice-police here, but I would like to see better feedback, engage in discussions and debate, pitch ideas and suggestions, be constructive - and we'll come here more often to listen and talk with you =)

Steam has a bad reputation for being toxic and always overly aggressive. I'm trying to step up our interactions on Steam, so I hope that our Cities community here can prove that stigma wrong.

Sincerely, Jonathan (Community Developer)

@Azure:

So far the only real toxic post on here is this one...

kingleno does not deserve any money. His designs are not good and his english is worse.

And unlike bashers, I actually bought the CCP because I like what KingLeno designed for the game and was hoping you would chime in and maybe issue a "fix" so to speak...

Whereas I just saw a negative review on the Campus Expansion's Steam page where the guy outright said the pack was unimpressive because the designs were too American without even giving the pack a chance.
