Farm / Silo Storage Import / Export Flour Mill not getting supplied
I am not completely sure how this works. Do you get to prioritize anything?
I mean i got 2 flour mills and they rarely get the 13/13 needed to produce Flour.
Meanwhile i got a large barn thats now full with 500/500 crops.
It would appear all 5 trucks are busy exporting this abroad which takes ages rather than making the 5 second trip to the flour mill to supply it. (even to the point that the flour mill sometimes IMPORTS the goods!) Anyway to fix this?
I had my barn set to empty. Should i set it to balanced?
Basically this industries thing seems to cost me money its much easier to just place 'normal farming' that actually simply makes money from taxes.

Hmm it seems i have not enough barns / silos then?
I have a large barn and small silo and 5/5 3/3 are in use.
Meanwhile of the actual CROP fields in general only 1 out of 2 trucks are in use. I have no idea why. Why not use the 2nd one to deliver to the Flour mills?
In general half the production seems to be import which is completely ridicilous with the absolute overflow of crops that are available both stored directly in the crop field storage and that barn....
the problem i have is if i throw down 2-3 more barns and set it to balanced wont they try to IMPORT to get more? Or should i set em all to empty till they are at 50% full?

Right...
On top of the info above, if you fancy using mods, here are few you could use:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2303997489 - to limit deliveries to specific areas, make your supply chain more specific
and
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1806759255 - to change amount of hehicles and employees for example (among other things)

Before you get these mods - check if your outside connections actually work properly (or any other road as for that matter) - sometimes, quite randomly, trucks and other vehicles start stopping at one of the nodes, sometimes it's just one of the road lanes... restarting game helps usually.

You need more storage. If you have 2 small crop fields at the start, you will need at least 3-4 small silos. As your farm (or other industries) level up, you will need even more storage. A large crop field at level 5 will produce around 20,000 units a week compared to the around 8,000 units at level 1.

Hmm ok then. I went with 4 fields 2 medium 2 small, 2 flour mills and a large barn and small silo. Now placed down 2 more barns... Doesnt change the fact that there is still a barn filled with 500 crops across the road of the flour mills importing crops lol

Set your industry budget to 100% so you don't have to spam storage buildings.

This mod gives some more detailed informations about import export numbers
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2368396560
To reduce the pressure on your storage you can switch off half of the fields till the situation calmed down ( more trucks in town again ) . They keep their workforces and start producing again immediately when you switch them on if you go short in raw materials .

Thanks that mod looks great i ll try it immediately!

Its still mostly import for my 2 flour mills. I built 2 more barns and 3 more silos.
I got 2 medium and 3 small fields i think... Still not enough storage?

All players would need really is be able to set priorities for industry buildings
(never import. import when below. export when above and most importantly prioritize supplying flour mills or whatever else before any export happens)
So apparently trucks never FETCH any goods. They only bring em to the next destination.
thats why those flour mills are sitting there with 2 empty trucks that could just pick up crops sigh...

As long as you are producing too much raw material , your storage is forced to export instead doing delivery . l would build more flour mills and start a bakery to use the material and reduce the production to less than 500 export

If you want to over produce it gets a bit .. weird. Trucks will be sent to export instead of filling storages like silo or supply processing. I use a mod to help with better truck managment plus I make sure I build enough storage set to balanced. It will still produce a lot of trucks because calls for transport will go globally. And not only to a grain silo in a farm for example. That dang grain silo will cry out to all of the city.

This is the mod I use .. i suggest reading the instructions and stuff.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1680840913

And I have enough for example grain siloes set to balanced in addition to the ones I set to fill to feed factories or process like flour mill.

Lots of ways to do it, but this works for me.

It just doesnt seem to improve. They are still importing.
I got silos now with 160/300 balanced. No trucks in use. Why arent they delivering as they should to the Flour Mills? It still says 80-20 import or so? it makes no sense...

So i expanded to have cattle sheds and a bakery plus warehouse for flour and animal products.
What happens to the finished pastries. It just says manufacturing costs / output. Is this just pure profit. Does nothing get exported? Or does it get delivered in town?

Do you have regular farm areas in addition to Industries ones? Im guessing you are still over producing raw material. If you do, those trucks will be busy exporting instead of filling processing. Its one of the issues I had before I understood that generic farms also counts for raw mat production. I sort of didnt want to bother with balancing it so I got the mod above.

You can see what routes the trucks leaving the storage takes. Im guessing most will export or supply commercial.

Unique factory products are either exported or sold locally I think. Im tired sorry. I suggest using a small or medium warehouse set to empty so your finished unique product doesnt fill up the factory. The delivery trucks go globally otherwise. And the internal storage fills up shutting down production. You get the lovely 'Not enough byers' symbol

Yeah i have regular farming area too since i didnt get any income i get regular taxes from those.
Overproducing or not... It literally said 0/3 freight trucks in use with 160/300 and balanced so why arent they delivering to the flour mills (or my new cattle sheds) its just mind boggling to me.

The mod sounds like it might fix some of the issues also with one clinic on the other side of the city sending out ambulances, an issue i also encountered. I will try it...

hmm it says 'check user guide for detail' where is the user guide for this mod??

I tried without it and that mod was first alternative I tried. It seemed to not influence the base game too much. It just made things flow logically. At least for me. I remember sitting for hours tracing truck routes and shaking my head when they went everywhere else than where needed. Also it seems to send other entities out more efficiently. From more local locations. Like ambulances. If I remember correcly it affects those as well. Forgive me its been a while.
RadicalSolution Mar 5, 2021 @ 7:09pm
Its linked under Details. Its a github page. I didnt have any issues with it but it is a external weblink, so just be cautious.

There is an english version there.

I use the Warehouse first option.
