Can't place plazas and some parks outside of "Park Districts"
So I get a bunch of parks off the workshop. Say it's a playground for a neighborhood, or a parking lot, or a mere plaza to stick between buildings...

I'm not allowed to place them in my city if they aren't placed in a Park District???


Usually, I would just cover the whole city in a Park District and then place an invisible main gate and be done with it, but I don't want to have to keep doing that. Is this the only way to place, say a micro 1x1 mini playground park (swingset) for a neighborhood? Do I HAVE to place these in park districts ALL the time?

Parks should be fine to be placed outside park areas - they just need road access when that's done. If you can't do that, then it sounds like a mod is doing something it shouldn't, and we'd need a full list of your mods to help.

I honestly couldn't place WHAT Mod would cause this if any, because I don't have any mods that would affect the park expansion that way. I go to place a park and it says I can't place a park outside of a park district, then it says I need a main gate.

Here are two pictures that show an example of what I'm referring too. Neither are parks for the park district. In fact, one is a 45 degree park with roads. I don't have much to go off of yet since I removed everything to start over.

A 45 degree park is from the workshop, not part of the base game. That is a modded asset.

Those are both regular parks, so definitely a mod problem.

The easiest way for me to have a look through your mods would be for you to post your output_log.txt (called player.log on Mac and Linux).

Here's where to find the log depending on your operating system. To easily find the local files for the game, right click your game in the Steam library, select Properties, go to the Local Files tab and select Browse local files.

Windows
<SteamFolder>\SteamApps\common\Cities_Skylines\Cities_Data\output_log.txt

Mac OS X
Users/<username>/Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log

Linux
~/.config/unity3d/Colossal Order/Cities: Skylines/Player.log


As we can't attach files here on Steam, you will need to upload the file somewhere else. Here's a few sites you can upload it to, which do not require you to sign up first:

In the future, you might want to use a lower size image to facilitate quicker downloading.

Yeah, sorry I didn't think about file size when I uploaded. I was taking a quick break between working and saw a response that warranted a reply, and wanted to quickly do that.

I have no problem finding a way to upload files for this. I have a private folder I can upload to.

Thanks for helping me with this. If there's a mod that's causing this issue, I'll finally be able to find out and I'll inform the creator. Worst case scenario: I'll have to learn to live without whatever said Mod is.

Network Skin (you already have Network Skin 2)
Transport Line Rendering Fix (not needed anymore)

I just read a slew of comments on Parkify, and only found ONE that commented my problem. Why would that Mod prevent me from being able to place parks of ANY kind outside of a park district? I thought the point of the mod was to enhance the parks used WITHIN the park district.

I think I had Network Skin 1 subbed because it was required for a certain asset I wanted to use... would that asset still work?

I honestly don't know how Transport Line got re-subbed if it's obsolete... :steamfacepalm: Thanks for that.
And I'd completely forgotten to check the spreadsheet for broken/incompatible mods.

I use Parkify and don’t get that issue. Perhaps another mod is conflicting.

Occasionally I have issues but as you say it might collide with another mod I haven't found out.

Out with the old Network Skins for sure. The new one does everything you need, and anything listing the old as required will work with the new one.

Other mods to remove:
- Map Editor Tunnels Enabler - if you aren't working on a map in the editor, there's no point in being subscribed to this one.
- Terraform tool - very old, use Extra Landscaping Tools instead
- Skyscape 1 - old, might still work, but Theme Mixer 2 can do all this and they might even conflict
- Transport Line Rendering Fix (as already mentioned)
- More Beautification - has some minor issues, I recommend removing it and using Find It instead
- Terrain Generator - old and not sure how well it might work. But if you aren't making a map, no point in having it.
- Better Cemetery AI - might be incompatible with other AI mods. I'd remove it while we figure this out at least
- Demand Master - dynamic demand is broken. I recommend switching to another demand mod like Super Demand
- Remove Decoration Sprites - you won't need this since Theme Mixer 2 can also remove them
- Enhanced District Services - broken in it's current state. Best to remove, or at least install an older version of it locally.
- TerrainRiverTool - same as Terrain Generator. Not sure about it and remove when you're not actively using it

I also wouldn't recommend using the version of Real Time that you have. I'd use the original by dymanoid instead.

Try sorting the above and see if that does the trick. My guess might be Enhanced District Services is messing with Parkify and causing this. But I might be completely wrong.

Thanks for your help.

I've unsubscribed from some, but some I'm keeping.

Since I make maps, I'm keeping Map Editor and Terrain Generator.
For the time being, I'm going to hang onto the Better Cemetery AI Mod (for the time being)...
Demand Master has never really had any problems for me, but I'll stay alert if it starts to happen.
Enhanced District Services has been updated a few months ago and hasn't had any problems.

I've gone ahead and unsubscribed from Parkify and Campus Parkify. I'm going to see now if all these changes has made a difference. None of this had happened until the Parks DLC came out, then suddenly it happened. That's why I kept wondering if it was simply a result of the Parks DLC. I update my Mods every time a new DLC comes out, and if Parkify comes out around the same time, then chances are that I got Parkify before I even played the Parks DLC without.

OMG THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!!!

I really think Parkify was to blame. I just started a new game (no saved games left to try anyway), and my problem was gone!!!!!!!!
