How to place fences/walls around houses, without getting the house deleted?
hi,
i want to place a fence around a house, but when i try to build the fence, the building turns into orange and gets deleted, is there a mod, that allows to place fences without getting the houses/buildings deleted?

My advice is, always leave a space of 1 between houses, then you can easlily draw your fences around.

I dunno if there is a mod for this, maybe check the workshop, I think there is a mod named prop anarchy that could do that.

RM1985 suggests a great Idea of leaving a zone square space between lots. Though in this clip I use no anarchy tool to do this fencing. There is a tiny gap that can be used for placing trees or fencing. In the clip pay attention to the highlighted house asset to show where it stops and the props are. It is possible and I do so all the time but in some case it takes a steady hand. Also if you bury a prop under a asset you can not place anything else at that spot till the buried thing is removed.

ok, after viewing again it is only the school that is tight to another asset and has a fence between.

Placing fences can sometimes be tricky in dense areas as even with anarchy ON something is threatening to disappear at the time of placement.

What I commonly do is determine how many joints I want in my fence and then place a messy zig-zag fence somewhere in a empty space or field nearby. I then use Move It! to bring that fence into exactly the position I want. With Anarchy ON and using Move It! nothing ever disappears.

yep I'm sometimes doing this too, even with paths.
I've recently seen a youtuber deactivate "collision" in his anarchy mod to be able to place directly without deleting nearby stuff... still have to try this myself.

I use Move It for this. Place the fence (or any other item) somewhere. Then drag it where you want it to go with move it. Roads, fences and similar can be reshaped and resized with Move It as well.

with anarchy mod it still dont works, but i could find a way how to do it...first i choose the buildings i want to place in the rico editor, than i restart the game, and than i place the buildings, that i have choosed with the rico editor. Than i can place the fences, so..its a bit time consuming but its the only solution i have found, but still thank you guys for all the tipps

You need to disable "collision" with the Fine Road Anarchy 2 mod (make sure you don't have any other road anarchy mods as they are all broken). Just enabling anarchy won't do it as it still affects the zoning tiles.

It might be worth getting a mod like Disable Zone Check or Plop the Growables (don't get both though! They don't work together), as collision gets updated when you do anything in the nearby area. So if you turn collision back on and update the road in front of the buildings for example, that can mess with things as well. The two mods above help with that, as they make buildings ignore missing zoning tiles below them - each in their own way. I recommend checking out both mod descriptions before deciding on which one works best for you.
