Launcher installed without my knowledge or permission.
I know there is already a thread about launcher gripes, indeed I have participated. This is similar but slightly different enough that I think it deserves its own thread.

Ever since I tried to play my game a few weeks ago and ran smack into the launcher and EULA, I have avoided the game. (I don't think this launcher is ethical, although apparently legal) I have not accepted the EULA, and have not tried to even play nor launch the game since.

However it seems that even without my agreeing to this new EULA, nor without any consent whatsoever on my part, THE LAUNCHER HAS BEEN INSTALLED ANYWAY!

It is there on my programs lists, I had to go in a delete it manually. I was kind of on the fence about this launcher before. Sneaking it onto my machine without my agreeing to the new EULA, or getting my permission, has made me even more suspicious.

TL;DR- Even if you never agreed to the new EULA or gave them permission, Paradox has installed the launcher on your machine anyway! You may have to delete it manually.

your gripe was already described by others but the mods either deleted or closed that discussion
will probably happen here as well, so that some other player can repeat :lunar2019crylaughingpig:

to your problem
you have two options if you are not happy with the launcher
either remove the launcher & play without in the here described way
or stop playing completely

you can make a suggestion how the situation could be improved for you regarding that launcher here

There is no new EULA.

This again. What does it matter? The launcher adds ten seconds of loading time for the game and you can skip logging in completely. Gee, what a burden. You have no rights, nothing to demand. If you can't handle a new launcher, stop playing. The incessant whining about the launcher is far more annoying to me than the actual launcher is.

Am I missing something? The only difference I have noticed is a box now opens up with a button to click saying RESUME, then an option to click on whichever city I want to go to. I do't get ads or any other issue arrising. SERIOUSLY...what is this anti launcher all about?

Hello, (please read here as well Eisbar)

Perhaps I should clarify. I chose the second option. I am no longer playing (I miss it very badly). Despite the fact that I did not accept the new EULA or allow or accept it, the launcher was installed on my machine anyway. That is my problem and what I wanted to make sure others who may have chosen to no longer play like me, know.

You probably shouldn't have joined Steam in the first place then. This was all covered in your subscriber agreement which you accepted.

The Content and Services are licensed, not sold. Your license confers no title or ownership in the Content and Services. To make use of the Content and Services, you must have a Steam Account and you may be required to be running the Steam client and maintaining a connection to the Internet.

For reasons that include, without limitation, system security, stability, and multiplayer interoperability, Steam may need to automatically update, pre-load, create new versions of or otherwise enhance the Content and Services and accordingly, the system requirements to use the Content and Services may change over time. You consent to such automatic updating.

The launcher is a separate program that shows up in the program list. This is not an update or version change. This is adding new software, however small it is.

be sure there are others that have chosen like you

though i used the bypass to deinstall the launcher & am able to play the game without it, i am currently in the process to rip C:S out of my gameplay
because i find what Paradox did with that launcher & still does despite backlash of players playing the game for years now, repugnant

If the community didn't start flaming at eachother for a difference in opinions, threads wouldn't get deleted. Keep it civilised and the thread will stay up.
Anyways on the issue at hand that is the fact that a secondary program was installed. When you Purchased the game originally and it didn't include the launcher, you agreed to have Cities skyline installed on your machine, when Paradox decided to add a third party app that is the Launcher-v2.msi it breaks your original agreement of purchase with Steam Hence you should technically be authorized a refund since unless you bypass the launcher you are forced to have it installed to play the game Cities Skyline which you had originally purchased. if you do not agree to have the program called Launcher-v2 installed on your system in order to play the game. You should ask steam for a full refund Stating that
When i originally purchased Cities skyline on (Whatever purchased date) I have agreed to install Cities skyline program onto my system. Following the latest update a Third party application called Launcher-v2 was installed onto my system. I did not agree to the installation of this so called launcher when I made the purchase. Had i known it would be there I would not have purchased the game. I feel my trust has been broken and demand a full refund, I renounce to my right to play the game and insist on a full refund on the game Cities skyline and all DLC associated with this game.
I haven't done it since I could careless I love this game too much. So I don't know if you will or will not actually get a refund.
I know with the apple store, when things like that happen they give you full refund without further questions. I played a game for 2 years with over $2000 of in app purchases. when the developper of the app changed the mechanics and it broke my fun of playing it, I retrieved every purchase orders numbers I could find totalling $2150 and I received $2173.
If steam cares about it's userbase they should do the same.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ - the user has a right to the data on their system.

We did not ask, nor give consent for a launcher to be added, yet it was anyway, and without so much as an opt-out.
