How to stop traffic turning left across incoming traffic?
I'm using a 4 lane highway next to an industrial area and have added an off-lane for the traffic on one side to access it. Because this creates a junction, traffic on the other side of the road is turning here too, and because they are turning across oncoming traffic it causes massive tail-backs.

How can I edit the left turn lane on my highway to stop the traffic from turning left? ie I want to make them go straight on to where they have another way to access it.

I'm a newbie so PMi if this is something obvious...

Thanks,

Left turners are or can be a problem. These above ideas are mod free ideas that is no mods are required to create them.

Or you use Traffic Manager Mod (The Lane Selector Tool)

If you took a screenshot of the area someone could help define or custom the idea for you.

You're gonna want this mod: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=583429740

Also take a look at a few of this guy's videos. He does a pretty good job showing you how to avoid traffic issues IMO. https://www.youtube.com/user/Biffa2001

Just be careful about traffic manager, you can make some parts of your city as not accessible without severe detours or cause very frustrating lane problems if you don't know what you are doing.

One of the best ways to prevent crossing like that is to use a double 1-way roads set (highway or not) or a roundabout, they do take more space than a normal intersection but like with many other things in this game you want to try to use the right tool for the right place.
This also means that the best solution for your specific case might have a different solution dependng on traffic throughput, available space, distance before the next intersection and so on.

If you took the lane off the highway then it should not make a junction. But in order to do that you need to use a highway ramp (maybe called slip not ramp, I can't remember !!) rather than a road piece.

As mentioned above, post a screenshot if still having problems as we are just guessing really.

Highway ramps ending up on another road do create t-junctions. T-junctions give cars the possibility to turn right and left; the left turn will make cars cross the road therefore causing traffic jams. Even if you designed it in such a way that cars will never cross the road, traffic jams still occur, due to cars on the other side of the t-junction anticipating cars that could cross the road. Preventing left turns will stop that, therewith making traffic run smooth again.

I would get the TM:PE mod.It will give you so much control of your roadways, you'll never not want to use it.

It's like you never heard of a slip road. As well there is a way to have controlled traffic light that doesn't cause the opposing traffic to jam each other during the green light that is perfect for voluminous "T" intersections. It's what I call a multi-state traffic and it uses vanilla rules.
Have a look at this T intersection idea.

A highway ramp is a slip road. Not sure why you would be so snarky about something like that.

A slip road is only a slip IF and only if it is not stop controlled like with a stop sign or traffic lights.
You can make a slip road with virtually any road type but one-ways look best.

As well as a tip.
I usually use a common single lane way piece [speed 30] (which is not a ramp piece [speed 80]) to control the traffic using the slip. So that it is not seen by all traffic as a shortcut like the ramp piece would. No mods.

What are you talking about "argument" do you not know what a conversation is? Or ever heard of opinions?
Lord Sauron stated information that is not correct and is only so in certain limited instances. Clearing a definition is not arguing. handing the issue to traffic manager often get people in trouble due to lack of understanding. So I often talk against it's use till you learn the game. Traffic manager as a band-aid will ruin your game.
You on the other hand seem to enjoy poking fun at old post or are you poking those who open them? please stop doing that, you are not being helpful in these cases.

I was geeking out in Wikipedia recently, reading about Motorways (a non US term) and Highways (a US and others term).. many of which referenced slip roads (a non US term) and Highway Ramp (a US and others term). In none of the footnoted references was that definition limited to what other road connection control device may or may not be present.

And a casual reading of many English language dictionaries only specify that a slip road is the road entering or leaving a motorway.

So I'm legit asking why you think the slip road must be non-controlled on each end? (I'm not "fighting", I'm genuinely asking) Thanks!

Slip refers to an action where the traffic move through without control. At the end of a slip you can have controls but that part is no longer called a slip for traffic can not SLIP through it must obey the rules. You may slip off the high-way to a traffic light or not. But you never have a situation or rarely where you approach a slip road and have to wait for a light to change. Unless it is to favour pedestrians, usually.
Not directed at you personally but, Wikipedia? rarely, has truth to it.
Fighting? I can be aggressive sorry for that but I see this as conversation. We have different ideas and know how to discuss and opinions too. I encourage conversations. thanks :)
