Yeah no, medians have a usage.
@OP Medians stop traffic crossing on that section of road. You can use it to effectively stop traffic from crossing streets to make deliveries or enter cargo stops. This means better traffic flow, as they wont be stopping traffic anymore to do the turn.
Also tree lined medians reduce noise pollution.
On roads without a median, traffic can and does cross the centerline to make deliveries or visit locations on the far side. This causes traffic to stop while the offending vehicle is sideways to the flow.
By using a road with a median, traffic can no longer cross the center line and MUST use a junction instead.
No it doesn't, you're probably confusing the term with something else.
Yeah, I have the opposite situation for divided roads. My issue is that it prevents left turns in the road. It essentially turns your roads into 2 one-way streets and forces traffic to go around the block. But I have more issues with delayed traffic than clogged roads with everyone turning left and crashing into each other. But they do work as you suggest when traffic gets bad.
