Are achievements really coming.
Thank you for all your feedback and suggestions, Gareth. At the moment, we don't have anything to share in the subject of Steam achievements in Beyond Good and Evil.

This is a reply i received, which is odd when it was confirmed by an actual ubisoft member of the team that they would arrive ? SO much mixed messaging its disgusting

I'm not surprised about the mixed messaging.

ME NEITHER. I just wont get my hopes up for them delivering what should already be a feature.

It's the policy of the publishers to maintain the contradiction, the developers (who have nothing to do with it), say we're going to do it and the publisher who says behind it, we don't know it might come...
On the other hand, continuing to buy our games we will perhaps improve in the poorly managed Game As A Service...

Yikes

Sounds like the publishers would prefer we use their software to purchase/play the game instead of Steam, so are trying to restrict achievements to their proprietary delivery platform to "motivate" players to migrate over there.

It's really just different employees from different Ubisoft studios from game to game, that's why the achievements are so inconsistent, it's super unfortunate.

Not exact numbers here by any means, but just to put this into words, 30% of Ubisoft employees that list games on Steam will add Steam achievements, the other 70% won't, because they simply don't have to. The 30% that do add them are likely gamers themselves that prefer playing their games on Steam and understand this logic, the other 70% are just people that likely hate their jobs and do the bare minimum.

Maybe it was a lie. For Ubisoft to take this amount of time to add a basic feature must mean its not coming, I REALLY don’t understand why they overexaggerate a simple, basic feature like Achievements as if its some big thing

We would like to make it clear. The game team are looking into adding Steam achievement, however, there is no progress on it to share. Our staff on Steam were right, but there is no ETA, so we so do not want to create false expectations. We cannot guarantee anything at this time.

So from the above reply, we can all relax, we just need to be patient. Achievements are coming

Is it hard, no. Do they wanna probably box it in with a real patch given I had to quit due to all the GPU TDRs(not even AMD) and other myriad issues like with sound and whatnot:

Maybe.

Would be nice but

I'm 99% sure they won't do it. You can remember when Assassin's Creed Valhalla was released a lot of gamers asked for Steam achievement. Ubisoft said they will take a look and did nothing.

As for Beyond Good and Evil, they promised to add achievement, but I still don't believe them.

Speculation: a repeat of the Tomb Raider remaster incident.
To summarize, TRR also had the "cultural insensitivity" disclaimer and this led to the discovery that Crystal Dynamics wanted the game to fail, because they hated the original games that much.

So if Ubisoft believes the same about BG&E's remaster, they'll do whatever they can to sabotage the game.

In both cases, I suspect the purpose is to replace the old game with the "socially respectable version" they create as a replacement.

Why would someone become a game Dev if they hate gaming?
But I suspect the reason isn't much to do with gaming, because I saw a tweet from a Game Dev saying he hates all gamers "because they don't buy/support the games he wants them to".
Basically, the games in question validate his lifestyle choice and by rejecting the games, gamers are personally attacking him, that is what he believes.
