Nostalgia fans need not apply.

It's been almost a year since release and there are still game-breaking bugs, but thankfully (and unfortunately) I only experienced one -- specifically, the inability to capture a pearl in the 4th looter's cave. The pearl still shows on the map but can't be retrieved no matter how many times I win the race. This left the full game incomplete, although I was able to get to the ending.

Still, I lucked out despite having an i7-8700k and a lowly GTX 1080. It seems AMD fans got the short end of the stick. In retrospect, my original disc version on Xbox runs fine, and there were camera issues with the HD digital reissue on PSN over a decade ago. And now, in this anniversary edition, the experience is amazingly worse; Jade constantly sticks to walls and I was fighting for camera control the entire time. Auto-loads always left me with a fraction of my original health and the health overlay often disappeared during combat. And as others mentioned, there is no control remapping, which is baffling in 2025. I had no issues with Ubisoft's client, but it's worth repeating the words of others: IT ADDS NOTHING to the experience. In fact, it often detracts with the giant pop-up window that interfered with visibility in the game.

Ultimately, Ubisoft is probably nothing like it was 20 years ago, and there's no point in comparing it to the nostalgia of the early 2000s. But this was the first time in a long time I paid full price for a game I *thought* was going to be a sure hit. I read reviews and weighed the technical issues prior to buying, but those issues didn't pop up until around hour 8 for me. This will be the last cent of money I'll be giving them. Nostalgia means nothing in this age of ensh*ttification.

Solid remaster although not being able to rebind buttons does kinda suck, was cool to see them add a little bit of extra content to elude to the prequel that hasn't come out for over a decade.
