FOUR layers of DRM on a single player game?

BattleEye, DENUVO, Ubisoft Connect and Steam (of course). All that for playing a single player game from 20 years ago. How lower can Ubisoft can go from that?

Buy it at GOG while you can. It's not the "remastered" version, but at least it doesn't have all that crap on top of it. It's a great game.

EDIT: I was busy playing my old steam version at 4K60 RTX HDR with controller support that Ubisoft shamesly delisted from the store so they could shove down people's throat this "slightly altered graphics" "remastered" version. It runs amazing and even has my local language, which I was not aware of because I've played this game so long ago, but I still remember getting 100% of the pictures back in the day. It is still as good as I remember.

So Ubisoft can get this remaster and shove it where the sun doesn't shine.

EDIT2: Ubisoft changed the storefront page, and now it mentions DENUVO as a DRM for this game, but they no longer mention BattleEye. They’ve added so many DRMs that they've got confused

Yeah denuvo continues to ask for an updated ticket in an age where portable gaming PCs are more popular. Not being near Internet is extremely common when I want to play portably so I'm not about to get stonewalled and ID'd because Ubisoft wants to pay a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ company money to harm their own customers.

Ubisoft is literally more hated than EA was a decade ago if you looked around outside your niche corporate fanboy circles, when was the last time you saw their games on the Steam Charts? Siege doesn't count, it was their last decent game and addicts and whales can't get off it, everything past that was a massive flop, they're easily the worst publisher today from every perspective.

I enjoy a fun romp in an AC game from time to time but saying fan boy is a bit of a reach. I don’t know much about steam but given your statement it seems you are in those circles. I wouldn’t say flops but they are not like in the running for game of the year.

So did many other of their games.
I'm never gonna get my hopes up for ubi games ever again.

I mean they are doing soooo many things wrong it's like they are trying to be the worst gaming company year after year. And with Rockstar, Ea and Blizzard this is one tough competition to compete against.

Oh i see we're still deliberatly not learning what DRM or Denuvo is so that we can continue to blame all of our problems on it.

I love how everyone has solved the case of DRM hurting the game perforamnce, yet not one person can provide any proof whatsoever. I mean that would probably be a smart idea otherwise people will just think you're making ♥♥♥♥ up.

Seriously. Go learn what DRM is and how it works and it won't scare you anymore.

I played the game many years ago on the GameCube and I think I got pretty far but I could never finish it because (if I recall correctly) there was some kind of escort mission in some caverns with a big guy wearing armor? Anyway, he kept falling off the side of the terrain and getting stuck in deep crevices, and I needed him to open a door for me or something like that, so I couldn't progress. No matter how many times I reloaded my save I couldn't get him through that area. He would always fall off and get stuck.

I really enjoyed the game up until that point and wanted to finish it but I didn't want to attempt to start over again if I was just going to get stuck at the same place again.

Not surprising or weird it would attach Uplay or whatever it's called now, but it is pretty weird they added more on top of that. Paranoid corporate suits looking for things to do I guess.

Dont remember at all what the bug was. Its been >10 years since i played the old version. But i remember having to use a user made patch, it was a common enough problem that people had to make patches. But if i remember right it was literally just a save replacer. And yeah you literally needed a new save to get past it, because it ruined your save.

But having the remastered version makes me want to try playing the old one also. I might give it a go and see if it works this time. If it doesnt, at least i will remember what the bug was.

I have not finished the game yet but so far i have only seen a few skins, which i dont even use because they look worse…

The textures are definitely better but thats pretty much it.

Old version controller support is unplayable. This is actually first time when PC version is playable with gamepad.

I own both versions. On Ubisoft Connect. "They" - you mean Steam. Ubisoft did not pull anything off, you can still buy the old game.
