Got excited for a possibly finally good PC port of the game then saw the uplay warning and heeded it. Moving on and adding to the ignore list now.

Agreed, glad I have the old one in my library. You can still get it on GoG. Too bad big publishers constantly bungle new releases, how hard can it be?
I never finished the OG. I never finished the HD remake. This one quite frankly... I mean it´s Ubisoft so that for me it´s already a red flag this days. But even then, as anyone is commenting on all the other threads, 3 layers of DRM and no steam features it´s kind of a nono. Cause if all this game it´s an excecutable with some minor lighting enhanced effects like I said the HD remake already existed, and I was also unable to finish that one.

My main problem is that this game gameplay and presentation, while it´s considered a classic, the reality is that it was already a little outdated when it came out, and both this version and 2003´s HD one do not adress any of those issues.

Considering we have things like Crash Bandicoot Insane Trilogy or Spyro the Dragon trilogy remakes, that completely overhauls graphics, improves on gameplay while keeping the classic feel, add new features... Yeah sorry but this is just trash of the worst kind. A company this big should not be allow to make such lazy "remakes", which, for the third time, it´s a remake of another remake, 2003 already improved light effects.

Forcing uplay in the hope people buy directly from their store next time, so they get 100% from sales.
No thanks

Oh, wow!

I did not realize this.

Thank you for letting us know.

They only care about protecting their micro-transactions from exploits, and it's easier to just blanket every title.

After earning all achs for AC2 ubi removed the achs from their client, I also unlocked all achs for farcry blood dragon I wonder if that games achs will be purged next. That's pretty much when I stopped trusting ubi.
Also when I lost interest in earning anymore achs for AC revelations. Whats the point? I beat the game I'm done they will just shut down achs again. And ubi basically has no online modes cause they shutdown those too like they shutdown flashbacks co-op.

No loyalty even to their own client, who purges achievements? What is the point of removing AC2's achievements? What did they remove AC2's achievements for?

No wonder game has just 100 people in steam playing it!

It's not advertised on main steam page, which shows they don't care much.

It has intrusive abs potential mod breaking anti cheat battle eye for no reason despite its a single player game, it may lead to potential bans in Ubisoft connect for just improving graphics with reshade and may even break it's hooking. It may also not work on Steam Deck and a lot o people actually now don't buy games if they don't work on deck.

It has Ubisoft connect aka Uplay and we all know after The Crew mess up that Ubisoft can take away your legitimately purchased games whenever they want, violating all laws and coming thievery! Nobody wants to buy again games on Steam if they require third party DRM that may take away their game despite it purchased on steam.

And worst thing of all - it has no steamworks api integration and no steam achievements, which gives literally no reason to buy it on steam.

Ubisoft nowadays totally infested by dumb management and they don't understand and don't care what people want and pushing idiotic anti customer decisions again and again, expecting to gain profit from this, but instead loosing money again and again. And they never learn from previous mistakes...

This is the definition of insanity! Ubisoft is controlled by insane people who are making same mistakes again and again, expecting thing to change...

No wonder Ubisoft is so broke and nearly bankrupt nowadays.

I was so excited for this remaster, despite I lost any hope to see a true good sequel (not this realistic looking monkey pirate ESG DEI trash we was shown several years ago, I want the 2007 version which continues jade adventures with cartoonish Disney like graphics just like in original or like in this remaster, similar to how Psychinauts 2 continued art style of original game and just added better lighting and texture which was enough to modernize game and yet make it feel like true sequel even 20 years later). But Ubisoft managed to ruin even it!

They didn't advertise game release on main steam page. They added anti cheat. They forced Ubisoft connect despite after The Crew people boycotting and refunding any games with it. They added some original game lore breaking new mission nobody asked for and which is probably as bad as many typical modern Ubisoft games and just vandalised original game. And worst of all, they released game on steam without achievements and leaderboards integration into steam. Making it relying on third part Ubisoft servers which will be shut down soon or when company will go bankrupt entirely... and they don't even understand that steam achievements and other steamworks features was the only thing that managed to beat piracy on PC because people knew that with pirated version they couldn't not get achievements and they started to prefer buying games on steam just to get that! And without achievements on steam people will go back to previous hobbits... simply because they don't have any reason to buy game and have many reasons to not buy it.

Jeez fire those defective management from Ubisoft, those managers don't know a thing about how to sell a game. Ubisoft should instead hire me and anyone else on this forum because we know better what people want and how to sell them games, and we can make Ubisoft great again :pixeltramp: while with current management Ubisoft is doomed to face massive layoffs and bankruptcy or sell for cheap to Microsoft which wi then fire everyone and will close studios and mismanage everything... but after already mismanaged mess Ubisoft has I don't even think Microsoft could manage to make it worse 🤣. In any case RIP Ubisoft, you wont be missed. Ubisoft we loved died about 10-15 years ago anyway...

No thanks

Seems like a desperate act as they're likely getting almost no sales at all through their store.

Yeah, same. Sick of these companies that want to layer their own account junk on top of steam. Glad I still have the classic version.
