QTE after the mine cart ride doesn't work?

So this is really frustrating. I do the mine cart ride and after pressing X+A Leon jumps and hangs on the edge with one hand and I have to spam X except it doesn't work and he falls down! :@ After trying 3 times I looked up a walkthrough which said that A has to be spammed so I tried doing that with no efing result :@ So I've done this section 4 times now, uck. Anyone else had this problem? I guess I will have to try to switch to keyboard controls and hope that they work, jeez.

Ok so I googled a little and turns out others had problems with QTEs in other chapters and resolved them by changing FPS to 30 but I can't edit that option and it's on 60 FPS for me.
This is beyond frustrating, I had no problems with this game, 8 or 9 hours in and and BAM.

I have a couple of suggestions. I don't think you need to turn down your FPS as I have never had a problem with the QTEs at 60, but if you want to, you need to do it from the main menu, you can't do it in-game. Set the FPS before you load your save. Next, the correct button to spam is what is shown on the screen. If X is shown, spam X. If A is shown, spam A. Now, to the best suggestion I have for you - when Leon is hanging from the ledge and is trying to climb up, do not spam the button needed to climb with your thumb - I can never press the button fast enough for it to work using my thumb. Instead, set the controller down and press the button as fast as possible with your index finger. That is the only way I can do those button spam QTEs.

The QTE at that part is screwey, it's not just you. I had the same problem with the minecart despite flawlessly performing every other QTE in the game with no problem.

So yeah, try the suggested option above. That, or if you have fraps, start recording just as you get to that part. Set the frame limit to 30 and it'll work as well, I think.

It's one of the dumbest parts of the game. I had to have someone else smash the x button for me after my hour at the gym, I just couldn't "get up"... lol :)

PathOftheDead, of course I press the button that is prompted, it's been X all the 5 times that I have tried so far, but it doesn't work. I usually succeed with using the thumb but I use your method too sometimes when tired.
ElbowStealer, I will change FPS from the main menu and hope it works, thanks again.

I did manage to clear it after a few attempts at 60FPS, but I think they screwed up big time with it. I think it requires 2x the amount of presses it normally would since it's at 60. (You can see evidence of 60 not being fully supported yet as certain reload animations are, or were until recently, locked at 30.)

Really not sure why they didn't test it. I only managed to clear it while furiously mashing away at 60, so it's not something easily done repeatedly.

I had huge problems with this part, as well. In fact, I couldn't even beat the jump because clearly the game tends to ignore my X and A buttons when pressed simultaneously there. Out of like 10 tries I cleared the jump only once and then the game didn't properly register my X mashing so I fell off the ledge. When I switched to 30 FPS I beat it on my first try. Clearly there are issues with QTEs in 60 FPS. A bummer considering the game looks absolutely awful running at 30 FPS.

Minecart was easy. I beat it on normal and professional without fail.

Salazar's statue was harder personally.

U-3 right now on Professional is impossible, I don't see me being able to finish professional vs U-3 I can not even survive the first chamber. Most often not even the first QTE that appears.. instant death.

Same problem here. I'm stuck on the mine cart section and can't progress due to the broken QTE in the end. On previous ocations mashing the X button worked fine, but not here. Same goes for every A+X combination that doesn't seen to be working at all at 60 FPS.

Main menu, options, set it to 30 FPS. Clear it [hopefully!], then save the next chance you get and set it back to 60. It's not ideal, but for now it'll work.

i have done this part 5 times before idecided to search the forums and for the guy who said to put the controller down and hit it with your index finger. i have a razer sabretooth controller with 2 programmable paddles underneath to equal 4 buttons all of which i switched to x and it did not even matter i'm hoping as others have stated that switching it to 30 fps will fix it

I could be wrong but I've also heard you can start mashing the button earlier than the prompt appears to help yourself clear it easier.

Mashing the buttons before the screen prompt seemed to work for me. So frustrating...

i forgot to mention that i tried that and it still didnt work. very irritating the only cool thing is during my 5 or so tries i actually glitched out of the mine cart and was able to run down the tracks. i have no idea how it happened but i took a picture to show it
