For the Steam version, it should work if you can use Proton/Wine on your distro, but you might encounter difficulties setting up your HOTAS and other hardware. Back in the day, when I had no money and didn’t install Windows to play Star Citizen, I struggled with configuring my T16000M. It worked out of the box, but it was very messy to configure the dead zone and other settings. In MSFS 2020, this configuration is directly integrated into the game, so if the same applies to the 2024 edition, it should be fine.
40th Anniv. runs just fine on MintOS using steam as normal and & no tweaking.
Still figuring out how to install addons like FBW Installer.
I'm looking for native support of my better operating system.
I'm already impressed that Linux was able to launch it at all this close to launch. Progress!
But yeah. I am keeping an eye out for Proton to release another update to experimental. It looks like it's very close and I'm confident that Valve engineers are working on it. Just have to figure out what is causing the error and then Linux should launch this just fine. I'm holding out hope that while we wait for Valve to figure the Proton part out, Microsoft and Asobo are working double-time to fix the game so hopefully by the time Linux can launch the game we have a good experience.
