Game Pass is not possible on Linux, unfortunately (you can access it through your browser to play games on Game Pass on Linux, but you can't use your mouse and keyboard if I remember correctly).
For the Steam version, it should work if you can use Proton/Wine on your distro, but you might encounter difficulties setting up your HOTAS and other hardware. Back in the day, when I had no money and didn’t install Windows to play Star Citizen, I struggled with configuring my T16000M. It worked out of the box, but it was very messy to configure the dead zone and other settings. In MSFS 2020, this configuration is directly integrated into the game, so if the same applies to the 2024 edition, it should be fine.
I'm a total Linux beginner so I hope MSFS2024 is as easy as MSFS 40th Anniv.

40th Anniv. runs just fine on MintOS using steam as normal and & no tweaking.
Still figuring out how to install addons like FBW Installer.
Not looking for an emulation layer. The OS requirements said "Windows 10 version 18362.0 or higher". I have a better OS already, so I shouldn't need to use Wine.

I'm looking for native support of my better operating system.
For starters, it's not an emulation layer it's a translator so there is no layer between the program and the OS. So no emulation and no virtualisation, the windows calls are translated into linux calls and run on your LINUX OS. I have all my addons with the exception of the fenix because of the web hooks they use, working in Fedora. I also get more frames in Fedora than I do in Windows which is why I run MSFS in Linux. 9800X3D + 7900XTX. Intel users may not have the same experience.

LOL.. like so many games natively support Linux, right? Especially Microsoft ones?
You just need to make sure Steam Play is enabled in your settings. Whether it'll work at launch is anyone's guess, sometimes it takes time for compatibility to be added in so it's usually best to just set Steam Play's runtime to Proton Experimental rather than using the stable release and only downgrade if something breaks.
For native Linux support I would rather look at X-Plane.

I've tried X-Plane and it does not come anywhere close to MSFS. Fortunately MSFS2020 works great right now on Linux. I remember the launch of 2020 and trying to even launch the game on Linux resulted in a CTD. My hope is it's very close already to letting it launch. Currently getting a Vulkan error twice, on launch (ignore it and it will continue to attempt to load the game) and another during the loading of the weather which doesn't crash it but freezes the program while the music continues to play.

I'm already impressed that Linux was able to launch it at all this close to launch. Progress!

But yeah. I am keeping an eye out for Proton to release another update to experimental. It looks like it's very close and I'm confident that Valve engineers are working on it. Just have to figure out what is causing the error and then Linux should launch this just fine. I'm holding out hope that while we wait for Valve to figure the Proton part out, Microsoft and Asobo are working double-time to fix the game so hopefully by the time Linux can launch the game we have a good experience.
Get your info on linux support from protondb and linked github issues for proton.

Currently working under proton experimental bleeding edge.
