What the hell is up with the Death Wish Mafia Boss knife hitbox?

It doesn't matter what I do, it is literally impossible for me to avoid taking damage from his throwing attack. No matter where I am on the screen, no matter how far away from him and his knives I am, on the ground or in the air, the very second he throws his knives I instantly take damage from them, as if the knife hitbox covered the entire screen.

There is literally no way for me to dodge it and avoid taking damage when he throws his knives. I just automatically take damage.

How the hell am I supposed to beat something like that?

Mainly when they go back to the boss. I have a similar issue with when he charges across the stage: I'll be above him, but the tip of his hat will hit my leg and I'll take damage, even though this doesn't occur when the same thing happens in the regular boss fight. And it isn't like his hurtbox was turned into a hitbox either: Like when he throws the knives: Touching him after he lands doesn't hurt you.

I never had issue with that myself. I mostly had some tricky dodges that i got hit on when i was right next to the boss still recovering from failing to hit him. Are you sure you're not just getting knicked by the boss himself?

I found this used to happen in the Snatcher boss fight at one point but it was fixed. This wasn't an issue a few days ago, but something must have happened in one of the most recent updates.

I have the same issue, one of his knives appears to teleport inside of Hat Kid before it disappears, causing unavoidable damage. Your best bet is to just wait until they patch it.

Okay, no need to get hostile. I was just getting clarification because just today I beat him and never once had an issue like this happen to me. Needless to say it confused me and I wanted to make sure there was no possible miscommunication or misunderstandings.

Hey I had the bug too, and i solved it by changing my badges... Thats right, as soon as I removed the compass badge, the bug was gone, so give that a try and tell me if it works!

Hey sorry for the necro but thankyou so so much for posting this solution. After trying and failing for 2 hrs on peace and tranq mode with this bug, I was able to solve it and complete the challenge thanks to your comment. (also yes it was the compass badge causing it)

Hey everyone. We've been struggling to find a solution to this problem for a while, we found it incredibly hard to replicate and we've spent months on it.

Thank you so much to the people in here who deducted that the Compass Badge was the issue. The bug has been fixed and will appear in the next update.
