How do you play as Bow Kid?
The game said something about Bow Kid being unlocked from the start, but is there a way to switch to her on an already existing file?

I also just saw someone playing as Mustache Girl, how are people doing this?

She's exclusive to your co-op partner.

However, there are mods to make a bunch of characters playable in single player, including Bow Kid.

Must've misread that one, then. Wasn't she in the online mode trailer, though?

If you own both DLCs and beat the main game, then you can start a new save file playing as Bow Kid. Mustache Girl isn't playable without mods, though there is a flair paint available in the Metro that makes Hat Kid strongly resemble her rival.

Most likely the intro scene to the final chapter. It allows you to briefly control mustache girl in the ship.
Thats currently the only way to use her since mods have been disabled for now.
When I unlocked the scene I was greeted by a truckload of hat kids in the ship so I'm assuming that if I could see them they could see me.

Better off use the mod as if you start a save file with Bow kid, character swap mods wont work as expected, weird glitches will happen, and single player only mods wont work.

Yeah, I can confirm that. Mods are the only way Mustache Girl can be a playable character. Although there was an instance where Mustache Girl would go into Snatcher’s forest to get time pieces for herself, but this part was scrapped.

mods and not disabled anymore and you can be moustache girl with mods now
