It certainly is DIFFICULT to record gameplay with it but possible.
However if you want to use it to record games then ... well don't.
other than that I believe Op is an idiot "What a rip-off"
This is a video editing software so if you recorded your gameplay footage "with another software" and want to edit it and add some "enhancements" with this software then it should work.
If you want to record yourself blabbing about stuff and post it online, it can do that.
And all the video editing stuff basically.
REALLY EXTREMELY easy to use and very user-friendly.
The only idiot in the room is FIRE_KEEPER. Do you have a day job? I certainly hope you do, because if you're an expert, that means you're shelling out $200 a year for this unless you illegally obtained it. That's the kind of price you'd pay for a professional package. Although some high-end software can even cost a grand, if you use it for five years, Camtasia meets that price tag.
I know Camtasia doubles up as an editor, but again, you can get similar software without having to pay a penny. (Unless you wish to support the developer.) Give Lightworks a try. Its feature set might not be extensive as Camtasia's, but to be fair, if you're editing gameplay (additionally, you're paying for a double-layered pricey sandwich if you buy a game recorder AND Camtasia) you won't need something as powerful as Premiere. I'm pretty sure Lightworks is perfectly capable of adding enhancements and recording yourself blabbing, too.
Sometimes you just need to think outside the box. If you're going to create gameplay videos over the course of five years...
Paid Package
Camtasia: $1000
Fraps: $37
Total: $1037
Free Package
Icecream Screen Recorder (as an example out of many): $0
Lightworks: $0
Total: $0
In conclusion, who doesn't love an ice cream sandwich?
And you know this is not for "PROFESSIONAL" if you're a professional you shouldn't be using this one, I know I don't, I used to back when I had no experience whatsoever on video editing.
use this if you have no experience and want to make some youtube videos and whatever.
Oh devs asking for money to buy food and stuff .... those thieves !!
I didn't compare this to Fraps. I said you'd have to use Fraps in addition to using this for recording gameplay.
"(additionally, you're paying for a double-layered pricey sandwich if you buy a game recorder AND Camtasia)" In that same paragraph, I explained alternative solutions for recording gameplay, which is separate to using this screen recorder and video editor, hence Fraps being in the paid price list.
Also, you're proving my point anyway. If it isn't professional, why would you be paying the price of a professional package? There's nothing wrong with developers receiving payment for their efforts. If I had a problem, I wouldn't have over 1700 games in my account. The problem is that the price is unrealistic, for "no experience" (your own writing) software.
it sucks that I never listen
Lightworks doesn't render in 1080p60 for free
Camtasia does render in 1080p but 30 fps
Would you suggest a free video editor that renders in 1080p60?
