Camtasia Steam - Retirement Announcement

May 18, 2017

Starting today, Camtasia will no longer be available for purchase on Steam. Current subscribers will be allowed to finish out their billing period, however, your subscription will no longer be available for renewal after June 1, 2017. No additional action is required by you. After June 1, you will no longer be charged a subscription fee.

Please complete any video projects you may be working on before June 1 to avoid losing your work.

We appreciate our Steam customers and thank you for your support. However, as we continue to create new and more feature-rich versions of Camtasia, the Steam platform no longer fits with our current and future distribution strategies. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and again thank you for using Camtasia.

We’re pleased to announce the major release of Camtasia 9, designed to help you make amazing video.

With this release, video creation is faster than ever with a streamlined UI featuring improved workflows including the ability to drag and drop just about anything to the timeline or directly onto the preview window. You can also edit your content directly in the preview window giving you precise control over your final video.

Engage your viewers with all new behaviors that can animate images, video or text with drag and drop ease.

Our new 64-bit engine will allow for faster editing, improved handling of complex videos with many edits and improved final rendering time.

Improvements to our voice narration makes it simple to narrate your recordings so everything lines up just the way you envision it.

With Camtasia now available on Steam, we at TechSmith are more interested than ever in your feedback. With our launch, we have received a lot of great feedback, but we want more. In an effort to better answer your questions and gather feature requests, we have pinned a few posts to our Community Hub here in Steam that we would like to bring to your attention to. What would you like to see in Camtasia?

Given the excellent comments that we are receiving regarding some of the features that we may be missing or that you would like, we decided to create this here post as a way to consolidate your feature requests. This will help us keep tabs on what you would like to see in Camtasia; knowing your passion for gaming and sharing your best (or worst) gaming moments quickly we want you to take part in the potential development of future content....
