Doublejump problem - why does it sometimes work and sometimes not?
Hello guys. Yeah. I now. New update and stuff but I have a problem not related to the new patch that really pisses me of a lot. I do a lot of tricks with rocketing and doublejumping but at one third of my trickjumps I have the problem that they just don't work. Example: I jump up in the air, boost and want to make a front flip but all the car does is... nothing. It makes the sound of a second jump but with no effect. Just like a dry fart in the pants not boosting me an inch in any direction.

It's not a problem of timing. This problem occurs sometimes one second after first jump, sometimes after a quarter of a second. I just don't get the mechanics behind that and for me it seems to be just a lucky game if trickjumping works or not but for serious gaming this unpredictable behaviour is not acceptable.

maybe there is a Pro out there who can tell me the rules of doublejumps so I can finally grasp the reason for my problem.

Afaik I dunno if you're having some bug, but I think you can only double jump within 1.5 seconds of the first jump, or something like that

There is a timer in place and also a height limit, but there might be an issue with it.
Okay. The clouds are clearing up. Seems that sometimes I get over the 1.5 second limit and sometimes I still have the boost-button pressed. In that case flips also don't work.

If you fall (from the ceiling), get hit/punted by another car or launch from a ramp, without jumping... The flip timer becomes unlimited. They added this with the Rocket Labs update.

But as for hearing a second jump noise and it not seeming to do anything, that pretty much means that (at that moment) a direction was not being input. Whether that is the fault of your peripheral or a brief lapse in timing is something only you can answer.

This might be it. Doesn't seem to have to do a lot with the activated boost at all. I use a Gamepad with very sensitive analog sticks so I wonder what type of input the game needs. Does it want a 100 % pull into the desired direction or is a a little bit enough?

A little is enough... but if the deadzone in your controller is quite large it may cause problems.
Whatever sensitivity makes it turn will also make it flip.

Wewll I definitely just double jumped after 3 seconds to test it out and it worked jump 1 mississippi 2 mississippi 3 mississippi jump

I've already noticed that even double-tap double jumps aren't working reliably, maybe 10-20% failure rate for them :O
As in jump and right away another jump, though half of the time is the failing of it more that it does not care that I'm holding a direction down to do a flip jump and just does a normal 2nd one but anyways, it's a little unreliable for me.

Okay. That's defenitely not the problem. My deadzone is very small. 0.015 in config and a very little hardware-deadzone.

The problem remains somehow. Still some doublejumps don't want to work but I have the impression it's getting better with time. Maybe it really is the timing. I realized that giving the direction and triggering a jump is nearly same moment. Now it will take time to remap this in my brain :D

That's exactly what I mean.. I already thought I was the only one.

There's a few people who have this problem occasionally. I know Volo has posted a few times where you can adjust your controller setting so it recognizes the joystick angles. A little more. So maybe he'll see this and post. But it's basically a small area with the joystick that is a "dead zone" and so of you in that Zone when you hit the second jump you will double jump instead of flipping. Happens to me from time to time too but ive gotten used to it so it doesn't happen often lol

Well i have it too sometimes. Im a keyboard warrior, where the 2nd jump does not do anything. I suspect an update issue tbh
