Spinning into the ball adds power on collision, same as flips. It can also help the chances of the ball being directed into or away from a goal, depending on what you're trying to do.
It can also turn the car into a bigger presence in the air. With the ball generally travelling slower than cars do, there's a greater chance of making a connection with it if the car is spinning and adding width to the movement.
Only based on the angle of your momentum. Hitting the ball with the underside of your car will still hit the ball with the momentum you're carrying if you hit it dead on.
Only significantly less powerfull than hitting it with any other part of your car.
That's true. I don't know why, but I find this very difficult for some reason. It took me ages to get my head used to the idea of steering to turn left and right in the air, because my brain wanted my thumb to just point at the ball, so having to think about holding X and making the stick do yet another thing messes me up. I also failed to find any combination of face buttons that would allow me to boost and roll simultaneously.
Then again, using the LB/RB way means making some weirdly claw-like moves with your hands too, so I'm not sure what I'm doing.
Not at all. Spinning without actually dodging only applies the momentum of the spin; like you're pushing the ball instead of kicking it. It doesn't matter what side of the car it hits so long as it's moving in the right direction.
1. Wheels: This hit is the weakest hit in the game. If you want a soft touch, you hit it with the wheels of your car. If you want it to go fast, do not hit it with your wheels.
2. Roof: The roof of your car is a moderate amount stronger than your wheels. You can get solid hits with this. If you want a decent hit without the ball going too fast or too slow, the roof is your way to go.
3. Bumper: Your front bumper offers a very strong hit. If you want to get fast shots, this is your way to go.
4. Corner Bumper: The corner of your front bumper is the strongest hit in the game, which is a slight amount stronger than your bumper''
