But I changed my boost to X on the xbox controller, so on the left side, and handbrake to X on the right side, and airroll to LB.
On the configuration theme. I mixed up a bit the suggestions.
For now I'm using L1 for air roll/powerslide, Circle for ball cam. Square for Boost, X for Jump. The rest is default. Probably gonna assign R1 to look back.
R1 - Air roll right
A - Boost
X - Jump
Right Paddle - Camera swap
With this set-up you can have a finger on every button required. Your thumb tip is on X and the joint of your thumb on A allows you to jump & boost at the same time, and fast double jump air
If you don't have paddles, Y or B is camera swap, just means your thumb has 3 buttons to press instead of 1
handbrake on the L1 can share Air roll Left with no problems, and allows you to boost, turn and handbrake at the same time, for efficient turns
Having air roll left and right instead of on 1 button allows for some cool things:
- Better control on walls
- Landing on wheels is easier
- Can do tornado spins and reverse air launch easy (L1 + right + A or L2 + left + A)
- Can do perfect diagonal flips with (Forward + L1 (or R1) plus double A)
Pick a control scheme and stick to it. Takes me about a week to learn a new control scheme and overcome muscle memory.
Good luck.
But the position and size of the analog stick (and face buttons) is terrible. It's so small and has so little travel that it affects your steering/flying accuracy, It's domed top means your thumb slips off too. So uncomfortable.
But the worst is it's position, your palm has to rest on the wierd pointy "wings" of the controller, they point up and dig into your left palm. If you have large hands, then the analog stick and face buttons will constantly annoy you. They're so small and pushed in the middle of the controller. The harpic pads take up all the room and you'll never use them in RL.
