if you swear, in the manner of fun instead of insulting, can you still get banned?
For example, you can get banned for saying this: "Youre a fncking loser"
But can you get banned for saying this?: "That shot was fncking close"

Yes, the system doesn't differentiate.

Yes, as long as you're reported, the system doesn't care about context.

The system doesn't know context.

Not really, since they don't want any kind of vulgar language in the game, context was never considered.

Vulgar? Daamn you must be sheltered..... I bet it's alright for someone to wish someone gets cancer or die in a car crash and the like? I'd love to know their context and abusive parameters.

What else would you call it?

Nope, but unless they added "cancer/die" in the list of banned words, such reports have to be checked by actual people.

I get that it's meant to be a game that should be accessable for all ages. Hence the reduction in swearing. It's part of every language, it's hardly a vulgarity though.

I honestly think that if EVERY person who swore/harrassed was banned, they'd have such a negligable player base left. Atleast show some consistency in regard to who's banned and for what. I'd rest assured knowing if it was, alas, I doubt it is.

Automated ban system ha seen in place for months. A good handful have been permanently ban, and many have seemed to have learned their lesson.

It was added around Around july/August. And funny steam charts show us rising in peak players, and we've had a pretty steady base of players.

This obviously doesn't even include Xbox/ps4/switch numbers. So there's even more.

It's still up to the players. You don't get autobanned for saying censored words. You get autobanned if someone reports you for saying enough censored words to cross a threshold.

I swear all the time IRL. Doesn't mean I need to in game. I'd like to think that non-toxic players can control that, while the truly toxic just can't. It weeds out the worst offenders, giving Psyonix more manpower to go through the rest manually.

So if you'd like, you can read the room, see how people are talking, and determine if casual swearing will get you banned. It's kind of nice when you feel you can trust the people you're playing with to be on the same conversational wavelength like that. I just don't take the chance at all, because tons of people just like knowing they can get someone banned.

I think the biggest mistake in the system was telling everyone this is how it works.

Just don't swear and stop trying to look for the limit as to how far you can go.

If you cant just shut up, you have issues and others shouldn't have to deal with them.

No, it would just be the people who can go 5 minutes without having to swear at someone.
