Input lag on Rocket league
So I very recently got a new PC and I went to install rocket league on it. I start up the game and jump into a match using my PS4 controller and about every 5-10 seconds I get random bits of input lag. Sometimes it doesnt seem to even register that I presswed a button. I tried different USBs on my PC and different coords. I then tried an older controller (doesnt work very well cause its broke) and there was no input lag from it at all. The older controller came with the standard PS4 console and the one that I use thats having input lag issues was ordered from Amazon but it was still made buy Sony. Both controller are made by Sony. I don't have blue tooth on my PC to try and connect it that way either. Its only having input lag on my newer controller. I used this same controller on my other PC no problems and tested it out on my ps4 rocket league and no problem. One thing I did notice is that on my devices in the settings, my controller having random spikes of input lag was listed as an audio device while my other older controller is listed under "other devices". I have tried just about everything. DS4Windows wont even detect either controller and sometimes I have problems trying to get both the controller to connect to steam to even work. Ive gone into big picture mode and tried all that aswell. I can't figure out how to make these random input lag spikes stop. I would use my other controller but as I said it doesnt work very well. Please help

EDIT: I know its not my internet either

I would try getting the DS4 driver downloaded and working and disabling PS4 controller support through Big Picture Mode.

I know you said it wont detect either controller but that's not normal. As far as that is concerned your doing something wrong. If you can get DS4 to work then you can at least rule out Steam PS4 controller support. I can tell you that I've used a PS4 controller for an entire play though of Dying Light + the Following DLC and a nominal amount of time on Rocket League through Steams PS4 support, without any issue.

One more thing to consider would be the micro USB socket on your controller being damaged, or the possibility that Windows is doing some wierd stuff trying to download drivers for the controller over and over ?

I've been having the same issue with one of my DS4 controllers since October or so. It doesn't make any sense. I noticed the problem goes away (or is lessened) when I disable rumble, but I don't want to do that.

Reading the whole post helps.

I recently upgraded my PC too (only thing whats left is my graphics card) and now i have heavy input lags every second or third game. Its not permanent, but if it kicks in its unplayable (muscle memory of over 2000 hours)... I have a new monitor too (AOC g2460pf), running my DS4 controller over bluetooth (and no its not bluetooth, tried it with cable, and played before i upgraded with bt all the time)...
cant find a fix

you dont need any driver for ds4 (or the PS4 support in Big picture ... Rocket league supports DS4 controllers as a whole by himself (Support mode would make it worse, because of the false deadzones ... PhantomACE made a video about it)

I had a similar problem. I think it's the USB port on the controller. I switched to a new controller.

no expert here but i would hazard a guess this is your problem, "my controller having random spikes of input lag was listed as an audio device while my other older controller is listed under "other devices" It would seem as though it is not being recognized correctly by your pc which would be a driver issue. However not having a controller myself i have no suggestions on how to fix it sorry.

Hey guys thanks for all the help. I ended up changing to a new controller and am no longer having problems. Still have no Idea what the problem was

Just an update for me, but a recent Steam update seems to have solved my issues.
