General expectations for certain levels (veteran, expert, master...)
When playing ranked you currently end up playing with a nice variety of different people. Ranked is such a joke currently so I'm not going to cry about losing ranks or gaining ranks or even people forfeiting on 4:32, but instead I'd like to discuss what do people expect from other players when they see their level (not the rank, but level).

I'm lvl 39 veteran, 160 hours in game, and I know I'm far from being amazing high rank pro or whatever but I feel that I'm fairly good for my own level.

Leveling up happens by getting points from games (1000 for win, 750 for loss + own points) and I feel that leveling up has slowed down quite a lot even around my levels. Thus I'm making the assumption that you can pretty much see how long someone has played by looking at his level.
Someone has written a guide in steam which says that leveling up to my level should take around 910 games and 76 hours. Maybe I'm just damn bad or the guide is outdated, but anyway, you can pretty safely assume that someone on veteran, expert or master level has played at least 100-200 hours.

What do you learn within 100-200 hours? I suppose the basics, movement, awareness, at least basic aerials, some defensive, some wall balls and shooting..
I've seen some people who have mastered air dribbles but were unable to do even the simplest rotation. Or people who were always up in their team mates arse, chasing the ball like a damn dog and wrecking their team mates' plays.

What happens to someone who plays 200 hours and is fine with his own performance when your team mates yell at you game after game after game for being terrible?

Maybe I'm just too strickt here? What do you people generally expect someone to be able to do if his level is veteran, expert or master?

Everybody learns/progresses at a different rate. That is the real reason level/playtime has no meaning by itself.

Yes, it does indicate how skilled someone is. No, you won't know HOW skilled by JUST looking at a level.

And the XP required for each level grows exponentially, thats why it "slows down" after a point. For example; from rookie to legend and from legend to rocketeer (0-60 and 60-73) takes an equal amount of time/XP!

First off, hours doesn't matter that much. Of course, people get better with more hours but it's not that after 400 hours you should do flawless aerials. Everyone learns at different rates , like said above. I've been judged by my rank/hours many times and people laugh at how I play for someone with 1000 hours. I know that I learn slow, first game with controller as well, switched to controller after 400 hours and the most important reason: I don't care about how good I am compared to my input.

Also: I am level 67 and according to the guide that should take me 400 hours, but it took me 1000 hours. The guide itself explains why the difference is so big.

Tip: You can disable your rank if you don't want to be judged before a game starts.
Tip: You can make your steam profile private if you don't want people to search up info about you.
Tip: You can disable the chat =)

That will only hide time played, people can still find your profile ID and lookup stats on tracker sites.

I expect them all to suck. But I fear the odd semi-pro/ pro I see because I know they are smurfing or just switching over form console. Hounestly when I see a Legend or Rocketeer I think yum fresh meat. But since the last update if I see blue wheels I know I got a 60/40 shot but purple wheels means I'm going to lose 9 out of 10 games.

But to answer your guestion I don't expect much from anyone under legend. I just expect Legends + to know how to rotate and that's enough. If they can pass or be ready for a pass all the better.

I hide my level so people can't talk ♥♥♥♥

You get matched with people of your skill level anyways, not with other veterans so it doesn't really matter.
Also those guides are very rough estimates and don't take any loading, replays, main menu stuff into consideration aswell as assuming that you win all these games with a decent score.

Realistically 2 games won't take 10 minutes, you spend x seconds to find a game, 5-10 goals in those games with replays add a lot of time, the minute after a game if people don't ready up, you would only win 1 of those 2 games which means you miss out on a lot of points etc etc.

I have well over a 1000h in this game according to steam, but i'm not level 75 yet due to the things mentioned and aswell as spending a lot of time doing other stuff with the game open, so hours played is also not an indication of anything either.

I never ever, and everyone should not judge a player by their damn lvl, sometimes even "MASTER" lvl do ♥♥♥♥♥♥ things.

If I miss a arial by mistake, people start yelling at me (some people) that
"even you are so-called "MASTER" you can't do ♥♥♥♥!"

that's why I had to hide that tag lol.

Well thanks for the replies, I've played tag hidden every now and then and I totally understand why people do it. Might actually do a couple of games with chat disabled and rank hidden to see what happens..

I actually didn't mean expectations as in "how much you think they are going to score" or something like that, more like how much I can trust them, give them space to do their thing and how much I have guard my own ass and the goal if they can't think after all. Sorry for the bad phrasing :D
