How do I get rid of my own wooden door so I can place metal door?

Title, I made wooden door 1h ago, but now I want to upgrade it with metal door, how do I get rid of the wooden one?

I tried hitting it with my axe 120+ times (supposedly 112 hits should do it) but nothing happened. Help!

Keep hitting the door till it breaks. It can take awhile. After the door is broken, a small frame is left at the bottom that you can make an attempt at breaking (which takes forever) or wait for it to despawn. After that, you can place a new door down.

I managed to break it, it seems to take a lot more beating than what Wiki claims. I'm not even going to attempt to break the small frame on the bottom if you say that it takes forever, the door itself took forever :)

How long does it take for the frame to despawn?

I don't know. I'd suggest waiting about half an hour and checking on it.

It took maybe 10-15 minutes.

Something like 5 minutes then you can replace the door with a metal one.
I suggest you build another room infront of that door, and build a 2nd metal door. Better to have multiple doors protecting your home.
