Rust vs Ark Debate (for those wishing to get the game)
This pros-and-cons style debate should be able to help any people who want to get the game, but are hesitant and feel like they need to know more. I compiled this becuase I'm sure a lot of aspiring Rust players out there are also familiar with Ark: Survival Evolved. So, I threw Ark in for comparison. Please give feedback or if you disagree on certain points.

I hope this helps! :steamhappy: :huntdeer:

RUST
Pros:
1-is extremely realistic
2-has a very diverse playthrough logic (no "specific" way to play)
3-is home to a very extensive community
4-the first major PC survival game to have cannibalism implemented as an option
5-is one of the first survival games, if not the first, to involve a radiation system
6-has a very dynamic environment system
7-has very active developers
8-is popular on YouTube
9-sales are steadily increasing
10-has extremely well developed NPC AI
11-realistic spoilage of food
12-realistic cooking of food
13-physic are very realistic
14-grass displacement

Cons:
1-has relatively few players (around 3 million)
2-is an unstable work in progress
3-five different branches exist of Rust: all very diverse
4-graphics are great, but could be better
5-a fairly beefy computer is needed to run the game efficiently (even at lowest graphics)

ARK
Pros:
1-is a highly anticipated game
2-has very good graphics
3-fairly solid gameplay
4-a lot of in-game content
5-tries to blend multiple genres
6-a deep tech system
7-has a unique crafting system
8-interface is unique
9-has highly advanced underwater generation (Rust will have that soon)
10-bigger NPC battles (Rust has that already)

Cons:
1-like Rust, it is an incomplete game
2-is somewhat realistic, but mostly fantasy/sci-fi
3-a smaller community
4-combines content from many other pre-existing survival games
5-even more beefy computer required to run Ark
6-negative store reviews damage reputation of the game

Believe me, they actually do spoil. But, only in the Experimental Rust, and only if they're stored improperly / for too long.

7 days to die destroys both these games

That's a pretty terrible list. Half of it is incorrect and half of it is irrelevant.

"a fairly beefy computer is needed to run the game efficiently (even at lowest graphics)"

Sure. Let's look at your list for Rust. I assume this is a pro/con to compare to Ark.

1-is extremely realistic
Not really. No more or less than Ark.

2-has a very diverse playthrough logic (no "specific" way to play)
This is true of most survival sandboxes. Including Ark.

3-is home to a very extensive community
Debatable. Certainly smaller than Ark.

4-the first major PC survival game to have cannibalism implemented as an option
I'm not sure why you consider this a major game advantage...

5-is one of the first survival games, if not the first, to involve a radiation system
Again, not sure why this is a major game "pro". It's a feature, just like cold weather is a feature in The Long Dark, zombies are a feature in DayZ and dinos are a feature in Ark.

6-has a very dynamic environment system
Compared to what? Compared to Ark? It's actually reasonably similar.

7-has very active developers
So do most of the early access Survival games.

8-is popular on YouTube
Less so compared to some other survival games.

9-sales are steadily increasing
Flatly untrue. Peak players, while not at an all-time low, are dismal compared to launch.

10-has extremely well developed NPC AI
Flatly untrue. Please provide an example...?

11-realistic spoilage of food
Many games have this.

12-realistic cooking of food
I consider this a negative since it's an unecessary feature that promotes campfire babysitting.

13-physic are very realistic
So are most survival games these days.

14-grass displacement
So do most survival games these days.

Cons:
1-has relatively few players (around 3 million)
Actually an average of 12,000 players over the last 30 days.

2-is an unstable work in progress
So are most survival games.

3-five different branches exist of Rust: all very diverse
This is the only branch worth discussing.

4-graphics are great, but could be better
They could definitely be better but perhaps this is the look they're going for.

5-a fairly beefy computer is needed to run the game efficiently (even at lowest graphics)
I thought you wanted better graphics?!

You must be fun at parties

You don't even own Ark... D:

Also lol @ the NPC AI, yeep it's great...
Cons: both games are FULL of cheaters mainly because most admins su ck at least RUST trys hard to minimize hacking but its very likely you get "flydestroyed" in the first 48h you build a base proof of the madness -> www.twitter.com/rusthackreport , note nearly everyone banned is a Steam private profile or a "Rust only + 3 f2p alibi games" !!!!

EDIT: i had ARK and refunded it

The big cons of rust in front of ark is the regular wipes, what a bad idea.

I don't like the fact that my base is going to be doomed every 2 weeks or month, it's not enough time at all. And I don't get why they don't do like ark, if a tribe is afk for too long their building can be removed, in order to reduce lags because of empty house.

Because the game does it already with decay? But even with decay, the server gets way too full and makes the server unplayable, thanks to their engine choise.
