Turn-based option?
I know Legend of Grimrock 1 wasn't turn-based and that was something of an issue for me, despite it being a good game in its own right. BTW, if you don't see LoG1 on my Steam list, it's because I own it through GOG.

Anyway... I much prefer turn-based, mostly because it's less hectic and stressful for me. I have tons of stress in my real life, so I don't really desire it when relaxing.

So is LoG2 turn-based? If it's not, is there an option to switch between turn-based and action-oriented? How about a mod that makes it turn-based?

If the answer is a resounding, "No, it's not turn-based, there are no options to set it that way and no mods," then I'll probably pass on the game.

Just for the record, I'm not suggesting turn-based is "better" than any other method. I just prefer it, so I'm not attacking or otherwise insulting anyone else's preferences. I figure I need to make that clear since gamers can sometimes be pretty defensive -- sometimes alarmingly so -- when it comes to games they enjoy.

Game is an homage to older games like Eye of The Beholder. It's not turn-based. You should probably check out MMX.

It's not turn-based, and there's no option for it. Many of the enemies' AI specifically attempt to exploit the grid-based system in real-time, so combat is often a matter of being quick on your keys and out-juking the juking jukester monsters. It's a lot of fun in my opinion.

I'm not at all opposed to turn-based games, but the real-time combat is working quite well this time around. It was a little too easy to exploit in the previous game.

Might & Magic X, eh? Okay, I'll look into. It's on sale right now anyway. :)

Yes it's not turn-based.
Yes there is no option to set it this way.
Yes there is no mod to do this either.

The developers tested and dumped turn-based as an option over 18 months ago during early development and it won't be added in the future.

I didn't like the combat in the first grimrock, just too much spamming for me. So I'm not bothering with this one unless I can get it down the road hugely discounted. No biggie, one can't expect every game to suit their own tastes.

Great game despite world record seeking load times and horrific performance.
