"We who hate the frogs!"
OK, this is just a frustration-venting thread for those who, like me, absolutely hate the giant frogs.

Feel free to share your misfortune with them :-)

I hate/love them. There's a very funny image in my head of a giant frog stealing my minotaur's axe with its tongue, only to have the minotaur furiously beat it to the death with his fists! xD That was one of the most amusing events as of yet. :P

I love frogs not only are they fairly decent xp for not a huge risk they also are tasty!

Frog advantages: Good XP, mild challenge, drops excellent food item
Frog Disadvantages: Annoying item stealing attack that forces cherry-tapping and institutes extreme frustration on the part of the player.

Conclusion: Frogs actually are a pain. While weak compared to the spam-happy knife wielding ratlings, they suck. It would be one thing if they just stole one item from a player, but they can spam that stupid theft attack and leave your party pitifully weak. Not to mention that when you kill one, the high grass of the swamp can mask items, making recovery difficult and there have been isolated reports of items never reappearing.

Only take on what you can kill and recover items.I got cornered by 5 frogs and 10 blue underwater bastards, still dont know how I survived.I use 2 wizards backrow[1 as alchemist]with lvl 2 poison bolt .The other wizard has lvl 3 fireburst and lvl 1 shock which gives fireball.Just fight from a distance where possible.
Not nearly as bad as the crabs.

The most annoying to me actually is when I had a frog steal my party's torch at night. Since it was only the second frog I'd encountered, I panicked and nearly got myself killed before I realized why my light was gone.

I recall my nephew using a spell, "dark (something)" on the frogs, saying it blinds them. He modified his characters through console so I'm not familiar with the spell yet.

I love the giant toads. Reminds me M&M: World of Xeen.

Monsters that steal your things are a staple of this genre. Dungeon Master II had them. So did Black Crypt. Which is a great game, by the way.

That would be one reason why I've gotten Concentration 2, light spell means that you're not vulnerable to torch steal and frees a hand slot.

As far as bad enemy combos so far, I'd have to say either four mosquito swarms before learning fire burst is their worst nightmare or the mimic, mosquito swarm (or two) and frog. Getting caught by swarms or other things that are physical damage immune when you've little to no mana left on your mage types is annoying, especially given the swarm attack rate.

I think the other bad set was trying to clear the rat colony under the Twigroot Forest area. Only had one able to attack at once, but those dagger rats are fast and they stacked up I think five deep. Had to lock them in and haul tail to a healing crystal a couple of times after my fighters got mauled.
