Well, it's Christmas Eve, and we don't have those things...
I think BOTH OF YOU are SO NAUGHTY it Offsets the Goodness of the Rest of Us.
You should really be ashamed of yourselves...
This... ^ ... It used to be a themed item for 7d2d. So, they did use to add stuff for themes... there was a Candy cane dagger too if I'm remembering correctly. Maybe everyone (TFP) thought they were too useless to bother with anymore, idk.
or
Not worth the bother?
For one, when they added themed items, the game was at a stand still in terms of adding/reducing items and balancing since they didn't yet know how they wanted to rework the loot, perks, armor, etc....and this made it easier to throw in a random santa hat and cane without having to do much work.
It's not like that anymore since now they feel they have a solid foundation to grow on that won't change. If they add a Christmas themed Santa hat and cane, then they have to add a complete suit (armor), and then balance it and fix issues before going on vacation for the Holidays.
So we're talking.....release the Christmas theme during the last week of November after Thanksgiving and give them less than a month before they go on vacation to fix any issues. And for what? Not only is that an unrealistic standard, but it's a waste of time.
Which brings me to my second point. Is it worth the hassle for an item that will only be available for a short time? I don't think so. I have never once used either of those items. Even when the Candy Cane was "balanced" the same as the club.
Which brings me to my third and final point. TFP used to use gamesparks to track how users played the game, and I'm guessing I wasn't the only one who didn't care about holiday themes and only a very small fraction of the fanbase ever did use it, and they decided it wasn't worth the time and money spent on it. And their not wrong in my eyes. I wouldn't either.
In fact, I'm glad they don't spend much time on holiday themes because I would rather see that time being spent elsewhere.
All that said, you can still rock a candy cane using CM and I don't think it would hurt for them to add a Santa hat again too for those who want it for roleplay or whatever. Even if it's unbalanced.
I also do think they will revisit holiday themes in the future now that the foundation is set.
