This is like when ARK had DLC while in early access. Was it wrong? Yes. Unfortunately people still bought it. The funpimps are double dipping and it shouldn't be allowed. It's wrong to have people pay for something twice. It make me worry about buying games in early access in the future.
If it were me, I would try to get a group together to complain to Playstation and Microsoft or start a class action lawsuit. This can't be legal and if enough people take action there will be change.
If I wanted to simply dump 500 dollars on a machine and play a few games yea I might buy the ps5, but that's IF I want to pay more exclusives.
tl;dr 7daystodie isn't exclusive and consoles are ♥♥♥♥ and a waste of money, enjoy your 30 fps while I stab you in the neck with a spear, if you even get crossplay, noob.
Good point. Netflix, Amazon and Ford owe me some money!
Sony too for all those PS2 games not upgraded to PS5...
It's not about what TFP wanted or want. It's about what legal contracts existed between Telltale and the console storefronts.
Even now, TFP must abide by the rules of those storefronts and must negotiate with them just to be able to offer a rebate.
We don't say it's fair for consoles. We say it's a sad situation not caused or intended by TFP. Their only mistake was to trust a popular and successful business partner who turned out to be shady near their end.
Btw, if it was the same story for PC, I would prefer to have the choice to pay for a more finished game or stay with the early unfinished one instead of being forced to keep playing an old unfinished game while others have access to the complete one.
And, PLEASE, dont try to explain why it is so - I dont give a damn. They treat me as customer not equal to other customers. No money for them, also for future games, if there will be any.
Anyway, I was excited and ready to play 1.0 once I heard it was coming to console. Well, I assumed it was an update. Y'know, a FREE update like it should be. Nope. People who have already bought this game on consoles are being asked to buy it again to receive 1.0. WTH?! I have already bought this game twice, once on PC and once on my PS5. Now you want me to buy it again to receive an update? I already own the game...
As far as I know this is a first in gaming history. I've never heard of a company charging for an update as a 'new' game. This should be free to everyone who already ... you know... paid for the game.
I know you have costs. But that's on you. Not us. If you need more money beg for it on kickstarter or something. But making people buy your game again? SCUMMY. Imagine if any other game did this.
7 Days to Die releases a new update... and "might consider offering a discount for people who own the 'legacy' version!" FO with that nonsense.
I am gonna assume PC players also don't have to buy it again, right? So why do console people who already own it on console have to buy it again?
And further impacting all of this is 7 Days has been stuck on alpha 15 since like 2016 all this time. You're really going to treat your console supporters like this? We've waited all this time for an update and we're the only customers that have to buy the game again to get updates? Its not right.
This is actually a really nefarious practice and dangerous to the gaming community. Imagine if more games start doing this. Updates are no longer free. Now every time a game receives a major update you have to buy it again.
What is fair to charge for?
-Different editions/platforms. Such as PC or Console version.
-A remaster or a remake.
-DLC.
-An Expansion.
What is not fair to charge for, regardless of situation?
-An update that is free on other platforms
These kind of things are very dangerous precedents that harm gaming as a whole. Corporations take notice when people "happily" pay again for 'an update'. They keep note. Their A.I. keep record. And it becomes part of their business strategies to milk us even more. Stop destroying gaming. Don't support this stuff.
And the 'reasons' behind all of this are just excuses. TFP's business problems are their own. Not their customer's. If you foul up, you don't extend that problem to people who financially already paid for your product. You have a little something called 'customer service' where you ACCOUNT for this type of issue and you still provide said customers with your product, since, you know, they BOUGHT IT already.
7 Days to Die is not an MMORPG. You can't milk us and get away with it.
TLDR: Everyone who owns this game, yes, OWNS THIS GAME, on consoles should receive this 1.0 update for free. It should be added to our gaming library by default when it releases. Anything short of this is greed and indefensible.
I've not seen anyone here saying it was a fair situation because it's obviously an unfair one.
And you shouldn't worry about anyone actually playing on PC that will "support" this as we won't give any more money to anyone to get the finished game. There will be no milking of actual PC owners of the game.
The only ppl who'll "support" this will be those who buy the new console version. I doubt many of those are on this Steam forum.
While im totally on your side the reason you have to buy the game again is because it's a new game. The game you bought on console is based on the A15 or 16 build, and was released as a full game not an early access title like here on Steam.
