The two biggest sources are these:

https://7daystodiemods.com/

https://www.nexusmods.com/games/7daystodie/mods

There's also a mod manager, which has a far smaller selection of mods but which includes a few that aren't available from the above sites. You can also download mods from other sources and add them to the list available to the modlauncher. I prefer manual installation of mods and most mod authors recommend manual installation, but some people prefer the mod manager.

Then there are some mods that have far more limited availability. The biggest of them is Rebirth. The author of that mod has chosen to make it available only by downloading unchecked binaries from a Google Drive link that's only available to people who sign up to become part of Discord's product. Your choice if you want to do that or not. I don't.

Since 7DTD is still in alpha, you have to pay careful attention to version numbers. Mods written for one alpha might or might not work with other alphas.

Related to that, it's probably a good idea to lock the version you're playing while you're playing a modded game.

You can do that in the betas section in your Steam client. The default setting is "None", which will result in your installation of 7DTD autoupdating whenever TFP release a new alpha and mark it on Steam as being a stable release. Not a good idea for anyone playing a modded game, since the mod(s) they're using might not be compatible with the new alpha. If they're not, it will usually break the current playthrough. Better to lock your installation to the version that works with the mod(s) you're using and allow updates to occur (by changing the betas setting back to none) between playthroughs, not during one.

If you're familiar with using a file manager you can also make multiple installations of 7DTD and run different base versions, different mods, whatever. But the betas method, above, works and is quick and simple.

Personally, I'd suggest playing vanilla for a bit. That way you can get a better idea of what you'd like from a mod. Also, overhaul mods tend to be harder than vanilla (some are much harder) and vanilla is hard enough for a new player.
