Each new alpha breaks mods, so until alpha is done and they are in content lock focused on bug fixing and optimization, workshop support will have to wait.
The modding community for 7dtd is both very active and very talented. You can download everything from simple modlets to complete overhauls.
Mods can be downloaded from nexus, directly from links in the official 7dtd modding subforum, or you can download the 7dtd mod launcher.
I'm sure there are other places to find mods, but those are the ones i know of.
