Darkness Falls v3.3
My personal tips for DF (stuff I learned thus far):
-when mining in the wasteland, use a picaxe, the auger just brings misery (and screamers, demons, spider monkeys, cops, demon hounds, kitchen sinks............)
-when you are ready EVE will send you to a lab, good luck, I think she has 4 missions, a clear, a retrieval, another clear and the lab (not certain though, confirm elsewhere)
-not sure if this is necessary, but you should return to the Eve that gave you a job before talking to another trader, I went to a Caitlin after the Eve lab job and the quest got completed through them, not sure if there are consequences to this or not, but I've not received another Eve job since, either the lab job is the final job, or I need to level up more (still on first play, level 123 so far)
-zombies will be drawn to your activities from outside so you have to watch your back too (close the first keyed door to minimize this problem)
-for labs you will need at least green and blue door cards (about 5 of each, if I recall, not many are required, I've only take one stack of each color so far and not run out), not all doors need to be opened and you can use this to create barriers or kill zones
-the doors and walls of the labs and bunkers are invulnerable for the most part, but there are ways around that (some few blocks are still destructible) and you can take fire damage from unseen sources (bring lots of fluids to drink when you are on fire, watch your health and hydration levels closely [tip: tomato juice])
-Bring lots of ammo and make sure your weapons are fully repaired, the labs have re-spawning demons, they will re-spawn quickly until you take out the rotting body bags in each zone (should be self evident which ones), destroy the zombie 'goop' piles too (may not be necessary).
-demons heal very fast (as in almost as fast as you hurt them; in seconds they will be fully healed again), better to unload extra rounds on one until the fire goes out and they are dead than to keep wasting bullets on them as they heal over time. You can take out a flying succubus with a full clip (or two) of 7.62 coil rounds, but you have to have good aim and few distractions. run away if you have to, and keep them away from your supply base and traders too.
-You should find a laser multi-tool in the lab (or in the wild), break down everything you can in the lab for some easy titanium [lockers], forged metal, poly and electrical parts
-just buy the fusion forge from one of the CAITLINS (trader), bring around 100k with you, better to have leftovers, buy clay too as you need it for most recipes anyway, Caitlins have lots of Forged Steel and Forged Iron, so bring a load of dukes, awesome sauce and pumpkin cheesecake and go for broke (you may have to wait for a refresh to get the forge)
-don't waste your ammo in a bunker until you have the laser multi tool and also bring the parts to build a laser workbench at the bench you find there, you will need red key cards too (all three key card colors)
-the bunkers have lots of demons and are not for low level players, but this is where you will find a laser workstation (or laser workbench?), bring a laser multi-tool with you (found in the wild or at the labs when you unlock Level 5 buried supply quests. You can clear a bunker to the workbench with a laser pistol if you are creative and have found enough ammo (use the laser pistol on the LARGE boss demon, use coil rounds on the rest, whatever works for you).
-the 4x4 truck is the worst vehicle in the game for navigating rough terrain (from my personal experience). only suitable for smooth roads and flat land. gets stuck on every other bump anywhere else. absolutely infuriating to use in the wastelands.
-recommend the motorcycle, does not get stuck often with some diligence, even in the wastelands
Sound advice, I keep a spare vehicle at base for 'when' I die in the wastelands. And at night it gets dangerous in there. I just try to get out of there or be very quiet at night. And stay away from the traders in the wastelands at night, those bases are death traps.
However, since there are no Labs placed, I cannot get a Laser Workbench, and I cannot make one since I must have one to make one.
Now I gotta start over. :(
