In Darkness Falls, you need more strategy and more precaution to survive. You need to use more brainpower because certain ways of doing things don't work anymore. It's extremely fun, and it gives me way more adrenaline. It's more dangerous and perilous. Resources are more rare, even at 200 % Loot bonus.
I got tired of the vanilla game, so I installed DarknessFalls inside the folder of the original game. But there are some Youtube videos that will tell you how to properly install the Mod Launcher.
For a list of the guns and weapons, I suggest you just play the game, and have fun discovering the new stuff as you play - - it's WAYYYY MORE exciting !!
The first playthrough will usually not be finished because you'll wind up trying to play it like Vanilla, and things will go super sideways. However, because you've learned lots of things in that first playthrough, the second one will go much better. You'll have a better idea what to expect and how to react to things. My one tip is this: DO NOT PLAY IT ABOVE EASY MODE FOR YOUR FIRST PLAYTHROUGH. Use a DF map.. I like the DF Small 2, and turn off Blood Moon... explore the game, learn the systems, learn about the different classes and how to actually survive, and start discovering the story. The game difficulty will ramp up VERY fast, so go easy on the xp modifier. Be very aware of your surroundings and expect the unexpected. Twice daily hordes will be extreme and you'll meet some really ... em... interesting new creatures. Again, they ramp up fast. Screamer hordes are bad news until you get armed and armored. READ EVERYTHING! Khaine has worked very hard on the Journal, updating it carefully for many of the new systems.
So, your questions:
1. Demanding of your attention, yes... annoying, not really.
2. There will never be a single answer for 'best class' because everyone plays differently. Read about each one and choose one you think will suit you best. I prefer to install Khaine's modlette that gives me 2 class books to begin with. That may fit a beginner better. Easy to do.
3. Just type in 7 Days to Die Mod Launcher in your browser.. you'll find it. Not to do? PUSH THE ENVELOPE! Do not go all macho and think you'll enjoy the exercise in frustration because that's exactly what it will be... masochism is not fun unless you're a masochist.
4. You will start with normal vanilla weapons and armor, progress through the same ones you recognize with a few new ones added in, then on to some really great coil weapons. After that, your experience will take you to the end game where you'll be using things like laser weapons, wearing power armor, and being closer to godly than I can even explain, yet still find yourself in deadly confrontation with 90k HP demonic behemoths. It's a blast!
