I forgot about the 7D2D patch. Thanks.
For anyone else who can't remember, go into the Betas tab of the 7D2D Steam settings and pick the 1.0 stable rather than the 1.1 stable.
The decor system is genius, as well as the Vitality system. No more cheesy nerd blocking, massive hordes of zombies everywhere, no reticle, terrifying zombies (♥♥♥♥♥♥ blue eyes).
This mod is head and shoulders above what used to be considered the best overhaul mods, which I wont mention, cause they are still awesome in their own right. If you are a 7d fan, AND an experienced 7d'er, I would highly recommend this overhaul for a few dozen playthroughs. If you are new to the game, I wouldnt say dont play it, but you might find it a bit difficult and I imagine trying to play vanilla after this would just be boring.
Hi, are you find solution for this ? because i want to create dedicated server on linux too
The main problem is WATER. I spawned in the forest in an area where there are no pools of water anywhere (first world i tried had a cabin with a watery trench). I found a great camp to build a base there with some traps all around and even managed to wander through the not so nearby city to loot. I really like the skills and how you gather some materials. The zombies also have different ranges depending on their eyes (what type they are), which is great, although zDogs are a pain still... There are quite a few great ideas. Lack of map early on is a nightmare... Especially when you wander through the forest with no sense of direction. 1st world i never found the city... On the 2nd, i decided to see where it is on the World Gen Preview, otherwise i'd just wander aimlessly and die countless times.
So i found only two pots... Not enough to sustain myself yet and apart from getting pounded to death quite a few times (because i was dehydrated and couldn't fight back), i also died of dehydration... Next step i think i will be moving closer to the city to be able to use any sinks or even small pools of water to set up the filtration on the campfires. Rain collectors suck big time... With the amount of water needed and the resources required, i'd have to have like 10 to be calmer about my situation. I understand it aims to be hard, but... The worst part is that the basic clean water only gives 20 water back... if it at least gave 40 or something...
Or perhaps in all of this i'm missing something? Should i drink infected water until i die of infection instead of trying my best to drink safe things? Food i somehow manage...
I think a wilderness POI is just too hard to make a permanent base in (and with all the trees, it's pretty hard to find other POIs out there too). Even if it does have a water source, it'll take a long time before you can make extra pots for boiling. Also hard to find enough jars (it doesn't seem like you can make those?).
Unless perhaps you just accept that you'll have a permanent infection (granted, we'll probably all get that sooner or later, but so far I've avoided it), but I don't know how much infected water even hydrates, or if it causes other bad things.
Having that in mind, i definitely took a wrong approach by trying to stay in the forest. Also, i didn't go further into quests past putting down the piles (they dissapeared and i forgot to check the quests tab). Would that help me a lot? I dunno, but it would be really helpful to know my options before i get really low on hydration and not be able to fight...
So that's a triple problem really. You need to establish a base fast to get "rested" buffs, set up ASAP to put time into finding water sources and drinkables (as well as food), with all of that without a good direction nor knowing where you were already... Dwindle too long and you're doomed... Or just "reset your hunger and thirst" after dying.
In my second game I found a road and then a city on day one (so, unlike vanilla, Afterlife can have cities in the forest biome. I like that).
But yeh, it would be quite possible to get unlucky with the trails and getting a direction from the sun isn't easy in that dense forest, or when you don't know the time.
In my first game, I did actually find some jars, a cooking pot, stuff enough for making a bucket and there was also a tarp, plus a water source in the wilderness POI, but even at the fastest, boiling water is just so slow that I don't think I would have lasted long there.
Maybe if I'd found two or three cooking pots and a ton of jars, but that's a little unlikely.
So, installed the mod through the mod launcher last night, it installed just fine. However, every time I try to load the game, it crashes just before finishing the load. Like, crashes at the same point every time.
Today, I tried just installing the mods manually. I got them into the Mods folder of 7DTD, but when I went to load, it spat out a bunch of errors, stating it couldn't load the mods properly. So I went back to the mod launcher, fixed the installation, and now it's back to crashing on load.
I've tried reverting back to version 1.0, and the previous beta, nothing seems to help.
- Used the Beta option "v1.0 - Version 1.1 Stable" on the main game and let it update to the previous version
- In the 7MOD Launcher i created a "clone", allowing this mod to have its own folder with the game
The green Jerry Can doesn't seem to work with generators. Try using fuel crafted in a Chemistry Station. I made Motor Fuel (red can) that worked for my generator.
