New overhaul out - Afterlife
Afterlife is designed to be an immersive, hardcore, survival overhaul that works with and supports cooperative multiplayer.
Here's a (non-comprehensive) list of some of the mod's features:
- Full "action skill" system- All attributes and skills are action skills. There are no traditional levels.
- All perks are new/custom.
- No time, compass, or map to start with. These items must be acquired,
- No traders or quests (for now; an alternative is being worked on).
- Vitality system. A "general well-being" resource that can be managed in many ways.
- Reworked biomes (forest and desert in particular).
- Reworked world lighting.
- Wasteland megacity (make sure you use RWG with the mod running).
- Several classes and class selection on game start.
- Custom equipment slots including torch, backpack, watch, map, and compass.
- 3 new tool/weapon tiers including scrap, bronze, and inconel,
- Izayo•s weapon packs, so lots and lots of guns (fully integrated with progression).
- IJI rework.
- 6 new •mineables",
- Forge heat system.
- Permanent infection (don't worry, it's manageable).
- Quantity/liquid storage system using glass jars as main item container.
- Weight + backpack capacity inventory system.
- "Dye Tub" enabling crafting of 512 different dye colours.
- "Cartography Table" for sharing map information with allies.
- "Training Dummy" for when you're too scared to go out at night.
- Improved rain effects.
- Some optimisations to try and squeeze a bit more FPS out of the game.
- Blueprint-based building system.
- Various QoL hotkeys (can be seen in-game in the vanilla "info panel").
- And lots of other stuff!
Please see the in-game credits to see what modders and artists made this mod possible.

dying sucked, but they took out 2 of 3 campfires with cooking pots, and 1 isnt enough, i have already cleared all but two pois that wont have cooking pots and am only just got workbench 11, and i need what was it 30 or 50 to get a workbench to get a bicycle? so i cant travel to another city. so my whole run is done.
oh and dont try mentioning raincollectors. you would need 30 to maybe get the water you need to survive because of how slow they are.

back in my day we ran to the next city. hah. but your criticisms are noted.

discord for bugs is preferred. generally 90% of issues is unclean vanilla install, always ensure theres no other mods or bepinex or something in the vanilla directory https://discord.gg/2cfHGJQhBR

Can't get the link to work so I'll just post here if that's okay with you.

First of all, I see a lot of people talking about softlock early on where the mission chain breaks when you set down the first campfire. I think this happens if you don't put all the stuff together (campfire, logs, piles of stuff/food). I tried it several times and the game always softlocks if you put the campfire down far away from the other things. If you do it all in one go, it all seems to work perfectly. Thought maybe you could take a look at why this happens, or just add a warning to put the stuff down in one go.

Second issue I've noticed is related to sleep. I've sometimes lost 30-40% rest when moving away from the bedroll and coming back a few moments later. It's not a huge issue, but given how long it takes to build rest up to tier 3, it's a bit annoying to lose that much progress for seemingly no reason.

Great mod, having lots of fun so far!

Is there any way to reduce or remove the weight of cash/dukes? The most expensive weapons seem to require over 500kg worth of dukes to purchase from the vending machine... I tried editing the weight parameter in items.xml but it didn't seem to work.

Also, I would consider adding a way to craft the compass and wristwatch without having to spend a lot of perk points to do so. Or maybe making them a bit more common to loot. I am yet to find the compass after 30h of playing.

As for vehicles, I would suggest to make the bicycle craftable without workbench.

What is "IJI rework"?

Cool mod with a lot of good ideas, but the food & water treadmill tends to become all-consuming (no pun intended).
It feels like a mod that encourages experimenting and discovering new stuff, but you never get time to do that because if you stop looking for food and drinks for even a day you fall behind.
I literally raided a diner POI, found a decent amount of food, but in the time it took me to raid the POI I'd used almost as much food as I gained.

update (I have posted on this mod before. I'm playing single player): I don't want to give too much away but for those considering the mod: The mod makes the game substantially more difficult and "survivor like" than vanilla (which I like) and I added to the difficulty a little (things I always do: added some mods (like "landmines everywhere") and made the zeds run a little faster). I'm still in early game (almost to second horde night... probably). One things I have noticed is that the "slow planning and building" and "food and water pressure" will probably greatly affect how you have to play. You may find yourself having to play in ways you never considered before. You will not be running and gunning down zeds without a care in the world all day long early game. You will probably have to be much more careful running around and looting than the normal vanilla game. Harvesting natural wood/materials can be quite slow, almost shockingly slow due to stamina loss while harvesting. You might find yourself having to eat/drink things normally you would not and take the hits to player stats.

Anyway: just be aware, and try to survive through it. be creative/careful and enjoy dying as you discover the changes the mod makes!

Me and a friend just started playing yesterday and so far it is really fun because we like that hardcore survival concept. Are there any maps in particular that's good for this afterlife mod? Or is it best to make a random generated map? Me and a friend were stuck in the forest for a long time and weren't sure if there were other biomes but that might be my fault because I did a random world generator and there was mostly Forest. But let me know if there is a certain customized map for this mod. I am thinking of creating a dedicated server when I learn more about this mod so I can build a community and we can all have fun.

its meant to be random gen, there are other biomes, its meant to be challenging to find your way without the map, and there are cities. a tip is to find a mountain to find a town

hi, is there going to be a 1.0 update? or maybe it's already out somewhere? thanks!
Shiana Aug 1, 2024 @ 10:28am
Most overhaul mods will take at least 1 month to upgrade to 1.0. I still wait for Ravenhearst and Undead legacy, and if we are happy those will drop at least before christmas...

Yes the mod Authors are constantly working on it so we will see a 1.0 release when it has been updated and tested.
D9sinc Aug 3, 2024 @ 7:15am
I see a "test" version available to download as well, I don't expect it to work well with 1.0, but looking over, it seems it's at least in progress for 1.0 and I want to give it a try as I haven't played Afterlife much before 1.0 launched with me just waiting until it gets updated to give it a try.
