Those errors usually mean the files haven't downloaded correctly, or the files are not installed corrrectly, or that there are leftover files from previous mods conflicting.

There is also text directions posted on the DF discord
If you prefer to read (updated from @RizzoMF’s excellent instructions):
1) Right-click 7 days to die in steam, select properties.
2) Click the local files tab. Select "Browse Local Files." This will put you in the 7 Days to Die folder.
3) In the bar above the list of files, click common.
4) Right-click 7 Days to die and select copy.
5) Paste a copy of the game anywhere you like. I do NOT recommend doing it on the C: drive because windows is a narky ♥♥♥♥♥.
6) Delete any existing Mods folder in your newly copied 7 Days to Die folder
7) Download the mod. Open the zip file.
8) You should have 1 folder and two files: Mods, darknessfalls.ico, and serverconfig.xml. If you have only a single folder, open THAT and then you should see those 3.
9) Extract those files to the copy of the game you made.
10) Overwrite when prompted.
11) After that's done, open the folder where you just extracted the mod to, right click 7DaystoDie.exe (not the EAC one) and send a shortcut to your desktop.
12) Done.
For either, I would also suggest doing a steam verify files of the game files before making a copy of the game.
