Darkness falls? Apple/orange trees?

Just a quick question.
I have planted many in my games, I hit them once and they don't seem to regenerate very quickly, so I was wondering is it better to cut them down and plant new ones? (maybe use fertilzer to get them started) or wait for them to regrow?
If it is best to let them regrow, how long does it take?

It takes about a week (7 real-life hours) to grow trees from seed (they can't be fertilized as of v5.1). Once they've fruited, collecting the fruit reduces them to a special leafless stage (unlike wild trees), from which they will fruit again in about a day.

Collecting the fruit using an Iron Hoe, or having Farmer's perks will both let you get more fruit (around 16-21 per tree at max).

I always use the hoe, as I normally start as a farmer for the quick access to Ink for unlocking the other classes, but my trees were not refreshing maybe I wasn't waiting long enough.

Farmer certainly does well for unlocking other classes, but in v5.1 the Scientist with Hydroponics and Chem station isn't bad at it either.

It depends on whether you'd like to have bonuses to Shotguns, or have quick access to the kinda-broken Flaming Arrows with Demolitions perk (If the arrows miss the target then they explode just like a Molotov for great-early-game fire damage to a nice area; the kinda-broken part is that since there's no molotov-glass shatter sound the Zombies won't notice you).

I almost never use arrows, I never seen the need, when out and about use AK47 or M4a1 with silencer on it and horde night m60 or lazer when teched up.

I will have to try out the fire arrow one lol, just because I never have.
