Darkness Falls mod install error - please help!

I tried to install the DF mod using this tutorial from Khaine:

The game opened fine, but when I selected "New Game", I got the error 'MissingFieldException: Field 'XUiC_GamePrefselector/GameOptionValue.IntValue' not found.

Any idea what I should do to fix this? I'm an old gamer mom, so please ELI5. :(

Update: I uninstalled the game, deleted any leftover files in the 7DTD folder, re-installed, and it still isn't working. :(

Give the 7DtD ModLauncher a try instead, it seemed to work fine for me, but I think I might have had to reboot the computer after it had installed Darkness Falls (It's been a while, so I don't remember vividly). Pretty sure I'm not allowed to post links, so just search online for the Mod Launcher.

Thanks for the link! I asked Khaine on his youtube video and he told me to reinstall it. I haven't gotten a follow up response yet, so hopefully he will respond when he can.

Looks like I had Alpha 20.3, not 20.6. I didn't realize that the game doesn't automatically update (even though I have automatic updates selected). It is working now!!! Thanks for the feedback!

If you use the mod launcher, update your steam version via right click 7dtd in your steam games list, then properties>betas>choose the beta version the overhaul mod you want to install is using.

Then i delete the overhaul completely using the mod launcher and install a fresh copy. The installation will pull a fresh copy of the game from steam, which you just set to the correct version in the previous step.

If you don't use the mod launcher, i can't tell you exactly how to do it, but the goal is a fresh copy of 7dtd on the version that the mod you are going to use needs, then put the mod in.

Right-click the game in your library, go to Properties -> Betas -- there is a drop down menu to select which version of the game to play. Un-installing/Re-installing does not cause the latest release to re-install without changing which Beta you are running.

Try to use the modlauncher.
Then once it's installed, go to the file 7D2D where the mod is and delete the file "Tempmods" in it (it's a copy of the mod which is useless and takes gigas for nothing).
Then in order to play the game, don't launch the modlauncher, just open the file 7D2D where your game is an start the game clicking on the icon. It worked perfectly for me for hours...Now i switched to another mod...Good luck.
