We managed to get 2 new classbooks by day 8 with 45min days playing Duo.
It seems like it at first, then you find one bookstore and bam! New class. The drop rate of schematics from bookshelves seems much higher in Darkness Falls than it is in vanilla. Just keep an eye out for the Crack a Book sign and raid any building that has it.
In my current game I am on day 21 and have 5 classes unlocked, it doesn't take that long.
And, almost every dye has the ability, when combined with another, to make black dye and then ink. It's not hard, but a chem station really helps.
