Darkness falls and War of the Walkers recommendations?

Hi guys, my friends and I are looking for several mods to change the base vanilla game. I really like the looks of both the darkness falls and war of the walkers.

Looking at the war of the walkers, it seems to be lacking some things we want like more zombie hordes and harder blood moons. It also seems to just add less content compared to darkness falls (i think?). But I think we can add some of the things we want through other mods. At the very least I found mods to add more zombies to biomes and mods that add extra weapons. I’m not sure about making blood moons more difficult though.

Darkness falls overall seems more interesting and seems like it has a lot more content / added stuff, but it says the game has less game stages. What does that mean? Does the game have a timer and then it’s over? Also, it says it prolongs the early game and while I personally don’t mind that, my friend really hates the early game and wants to start using guns asap. He finds skillpoints and leveling too slow, he also doesn’t like using melee or the crude low level stuff and he thinks advancing to better stuff takes too long. I saw some mods to give extra skillpoints per level, would this fix it and speed things up?

So ideally we want a lot more content, more challenge and quicker progress while keeping the game challenging and balanced. Any recommendations on which overhaul we should take?

I was looking at that one too, but I couldn't really figure out what exactly the mod does/adds without looking through all the patch notes and stuff. Is there a summary page somewhere that gives a run down of it all?
