hey guys i was wondering if there is any other way to get brass instead of just getting scrap brass. can you mine it or go to a special building to find a lot of it?

Brass isn't minable right now. Your best bet is to find a neighborhood and smash out all the doors, light fixtures, etc. And search for trophies in containers.

Brass should never be mineable as it's an alloy of copper and zinc.

So why can't we just add in ways to obtain them both? I'd like to see alloys brought in to introduce tiers for stuff, brass, bronze, steel etc.

Because right now the tech doesn't exist to smelt two metals together. We only have 1 input box on the forge and we would need two.

A good place to get Brass is the Burnt Biome. Some of the half destroyed buildings have brass sink fixtures. Plus with so many garbage bags located on the coal patches you can get tons of casings there too.

Actually it could easily be added in if you wanted. Add both materials to spawns for minerals in xml file and create a machine that requires you to first feed it copper, then feed it zinc, and it outputs brass bars.

I collect quite a bit for trash bags, trash cans, file cabinets, Car radiators, etc. That bad of trash on the road could just have a brass door knob in it. I have almost 1000 bullet casings that I have picked up out of tras bags, etc. Also 5 or so brass ingots I've smelted from trophies, candle sticks, etc. There's plenty of brass in the game.
