An active bedroll or active land claim block will prevent the re-set from occurring.
There's a short discussion about it here:
https://community.7daystodie.com/topic/33831-chunk-reset/
And another more recent conversation on Steam here:

That's my Truth, and I'm Sticking With It...
--------
It's a Game Mode Setting that Resets a (16x16?) Map Chunk back to it's default state.
This restores damaged/destroyed POIs, Loot, Mine Nodes, and ERASES Unprotected Bases.
The Chuck does NOT reset unless:
* The Game Mode is Enabled (it's off by default)
* The Chunk hasn't been visited in your set number of (configurable) days
* The Chunk does NOT contain an Active Land Claim Block
Protect Bases with a Land Claim Block.
Chunk Resets also have the side-effect of decreasing the Saved Game Map Size.
Unless you:
* Play for 1000's of Days (reconstructing the Pre-War, Pre-Zombie World I guess)
* Have TONs of People in Multi-Player and all your available resources are consumed
Chuck Resets really aren't required.
Damn - I really need to Type Faster.
