Internet usage per hour on multiplayer?
Hello,

I currently live in a country that haven't "invented" flat rate internet which means that me and my entire family have a small amount of 20GB per month for gaming, smartphones ect. ect.

So my question is - how much internet usage does the game use per hour? Im not looking for an exact number and yes, I know there is a lot of factors that can decrease/increase the usage, but I know that there is a player out there who has monitored the internet usage and have an idea of an "average usage per hour".

Hopeful thanks,
Sincerely,
SpottiCuss

I really don't know - I don't play much MP in 7DTD. The closest thing I could liken it to would be a MP Minecraft session. This post[gaming.stackexchange.com] indicates somewhere between 30kb/sec and 155kb/sec in Minecraft. Average per user around 0.1Gb / hr / user.

As they say though, depends what people are doing, how many people in an area, etc. I haven't ever seen a discussion around bandwidth used, maybe someone would be good enough to do a test on it for us.

I am not an expert but I do know a thing or two about computers. This game does require a stable connection that does not connect in and out so your speeds need to be reliable, at least 2-3 mb/s. In terms of usage it is not an extremely high amount but it does use a fair amount. Do not quote me on this but I have found that about an hour in game on a standard server is around the same was watching youtube videos for the same amount of time while having a few other websites open. All that I can suggest is if you do play, make sure you have everything else that could be using internet closed.

If you want some exact numbers so you can plan out, just google search a free bandwidth monitor so you can track what your download and upload speed is to determine how much you have used say after an hour of gaming. I will do some testing and will let you know what I find if I find anything else.

Well, it would be more fun knowing the numbers before I bought the game - so I will let this post run a while more :-)

My internet connection is stable and reliable, but its just limited - as old fashioned as it can be!

Seems - so far - that I will have to buy and see if it is gonna be a waste of money ;-)

Even just the Single Player is highly worth it. I haven't played much MP at all (probably 2-3 hours to test stuff), and have around 200 in SP. Thoroughly enjoying it.
