Overall, I think the $13 price tag is well worth it. Both games are much better if you bring a buddy though.
RIght now dayz is about looting and crafting (certain items) the option to build and maintan a base/house/stronghold is not an option in dayz yet. if you like to build and customize the world around you 7dtd is a good choice. in dayz you can loot food weapons/make some foods. but in 7dtd you can make so much more and craft weapons from iron/make many food types from animals. 7dtd is just more craftable, though i would say the post apocalyptic feeling is better in dayz. Its up to you! i own dayz and 7dtd, theyre both worth the pay and a play ;)
Rust - Rust is an open world MMO survival game... PvP, a few "private" PvE servers.
7D2D - single player, multi-player -- coop and PvP. Host from your computer with friends or rent a server for your own perpetual game -- not an MMO.
If you like the PvP style of thrashing anyone -- go with one of them.
If you want a lot more options, this game offers a lot more than they do and will grow those options as it moves forward.
Advice: Do NOT play on their public servers. Both those games have some of the most blatant hackers in games these days and the devs there tend to do NOTHING to slow or stop them.
Stick the the private servers if you go there.
