Stairs
Somebody help me make sense of this. Why for the love of all that is holy can we not craft stairs?!? Of all the the things to have in a base building survival game why do we not have access stairs or ramps or something other than ladders?

We do.

Put a building block in your hand (active slot on action bar) and hold down the R key. A radial menu will appear. Select the Shape function. A window with all of the shapes you can choose, will open up. A whole bunch of them are stair-shapes and ramp-shapes.

One additional tip: using the radial menu you can also select an option to copy block shape and/or rotation. So if you have a block in hand and point at any block in a POI or whatever you can copy the shape without having to search through the hundreds of shapes available.
