mmmm yess Crucy Lucy as she's called in my home. Generally speaking we craft ours or buy them from the trader. I think they are in the loot tables as well in regular spots, you can check the XML for that.

You craft one and then you'll find 3 because that's how 7DTD works

Buying one is probably the fastest way. Hunting down cop zombies and killing 50 will give a crucible as a choice of reward. Not a quick path itself. Crafting is a solid choice, after reading 75 forge ahead magazines.

I don't think they drop as random loot.

I got one as a reward for a tier 5 quest

They are rather rare as loot.
In generel it's the fastest way to buy one, second fastest to build one yourself and much much later you'll find one every third tier 5 poi.

I just started a new playthrough and Rekt had a crucible in stock on day 1.

15000 dukes by the end of day 3...I don't think that's possible. Especially as I spent most of day 1 and night 1 hunting for tree stumps to cure an infection a zombie gave me early in day 1.
